RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION WARNING - READ THIS MANUAL Failure to follow instructions in this manual may lead to Serious Injury or even Death. This equipment is to be operated by trained and qualified personnel only! This equipment is for industrial use only. The following safety guidelines should always be used when operating the GloBug Lighting System.
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION ■ ALWAYS make sure that the GloBug is secure on firm level ground so that it cannot slide or shift around, endangering workers. Also keep the immediate area free of bystanders. ■ ALWAYS keep area behind GloBug clear of people while raising and lowering mast. LIFTING/TRANSPORTING THE GLOBUG ■ If using the lifting hanger to lift the GloBug, always use a rope or chain of adequate lifting capability.
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION ■ When transporting the GloBug over smooth roads, place mast in stow position. Tighten the lamp adjustment lever and mast adapter set screw firmly to secure the balloon to the mast before transporting. This will prevent the balloon/light assembly from falling down or being damaged during transport. ■ When transportating the GloBug over rough terrain, remove the ballon/lamp assembly from the mast.
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION DANGER - GloBug Electric Shock Hazards ALWAYS keep electrical cords in good condition. Worn, bare or frayed wiring can cause electrical WET HANDS shock, thus causing Bodily Harm or even Death. NEVER grab or touch a live power cord with wet hands, the possibility exists of Electrical Shock, Electrocution, and even Death! ■ NEVER lubricate components or attempt service on a running GloBug. ■ ALWAYS allow the GloBug a proper amount of time to cool before servicing.

GENERAL INFORMATION The Multiquip GloBug Lighting System is a general purpose floodlight tower intended for emergency and remote lighting conditions. The GloBug can be powered by a variety of Multiquip's series generators. Power requirements for running the GloBug are 120 VAC, 60 Hz @ 9.6 amps. The GloBug can be powered by any MQ portable generator with an output of 2.9 kW or greater. The lighting system can be raised vertically in excess of 14.58 feet (4.44 meters) by means of a manual winch.

COMPONENTS Figure 5 shows the location of the controls and components for the GloBug Lighting System. The functions of each control is described below: 1. Steering Handle – The GloBug can be moved in either a forward or reverse direction by pulling back or pushing forward on the T-handle. In addition the front wheels are designed to turn in the opposite direction of the T-handle placement thus allowing the GloBug to turn either left or right. 2.
SETUP CAUTION - Read Manual Please read this entire manual carefully before attempting to operate the GloBug. Failure to read this manual could cause damage to the GloBug and serious injury to the operator. 3. Lift up on each outrigger (2) from its stow position, rotate backwards and place it in the deployed position, as shown in Figure 8. SETUP 5. To position the balloon, simply loosen the adjustment lever by turning it counterclockwise and either push down or up on the lever. Pushing down on the lever will cause the balloon to rise. Pushing up on the lever will allow the balloon to be lowered. See insert A in Figure 10. For circular positioning, swing the lever to the desired position. See insert B in Figure 11. 6. Before raising the mast, make sure the mast set screw (Figure 11) is securely tightened (use an 5mm-allen wrench to tighten).
SETUP/OPERATION DANGER - HIGH VOLTAGE POWER LINES When raising mast, ALWAYS be on the lookout for overhead obstructions such as high voltage power lines. The possibility exists of electrocution, even death! if the GloBug comes in contact with high voltage power lines. Applying Power 1. Make sure the power ON/OFF switch (Figure 13) located near the bottom of the mast is in the OFF position. 4. MAINTENANCE CAUTION - READ SAFETY GUIDELINES Before performing any maintenance procedures, be sure to READ the lamp, balloon, and general safety guidelines in this manual. Failure to read and understand these safety guidelines could cause severe equipment damage and bodily harm. CAUTION - BALLOON ZIPPER SAFETY DO NOT use excessive force when zipping or unzipping the balloon. The possibility exists of the zipper tearing, which would make the balloon unusable. 2.
MAINTENANCE Installing a New Lamp 1. When installing a new lamp (Figure 26) use only MQ recommended type lamp. See parts section of this manual. Failure to use correct type lamp could adversely affect lighting capability and may cause damage to the equipment. 2. Push down and hold the lamp holder (spring loaded) away from the lamp. Screw the lamp (turn clockwise) into the lamp socket. Gently place the lamp holder firmly over the top of the lamp.
MAINTENANCE Check Cable Wear Removing the Hanger The wire rope (cable) that raises and extends the mast is a very important part of the GloBug lighting system. Following the procedure below when replacing wire rope (cable). 1. Remove the M12 x 40 bolt (Figure 31) from the hanger support assembly, then remove the hanger. Set hanger aside in a safe place where it will not get damaged.
MAINTENANCE Pulling-Out the Mast Sections 1. Grab hold of the main mast (Figure 33) and begin pulling the mast sections upwards. Start with second mast, and then the third mast. 2.
