UsingthewirelessWANconnection
WirelessWideAreaNetwork(wirelessWAN)whichusescellularnetworksfordatatransmission,enables
youtoestablishwirelessconnectionsoverremotepublicorprivatenetworks.Theseconnectionscanbe
maintainedoveralargegeographicalarea,suchasacityoranentirecountry,byuseofmultipleantenna
sitesorsatellitesystemsmaintainedbywirelessserviceproviders.
SomeThinkPadnotebookcomputerscomewithabuilt-inwirelessWANcardintegratedwithsomewireless
WANtechnologies,suchas1xEV-DO,HSPA,3G,GPRS,orLTE.Byusingthebuilt-inwirelessWANcardand
thecongurationutilitythatcomeswithyourcomputer,youcanestablishwirelessWANconnectionsand
monitortheconnectionstatus.

TipsforusingthewirelessWANfeature
Toachievethebestconnection,usethefollowingguidelines:
•Keepyourcomputerawayfromyourbody.
•Placeyourcomputeronaatsurfaceandopenyourcomputerlidtoanangelofslightlymorethan
90degrees.
•Placeyourcomputerawayfromconcreteorbrickwallsthatmightdampencellularsignals.
•Bestreceptionwillbeavailablenearwindowsandotherlocationswherecellularphonereceptionisthe
strongest.

YoucancheckthewirelessWANconnectionstatusthroughthewirelessnetworkconnectionstatusiconin
theWindowsnoticationarea.Themorebarsencompassed,thebetterthesignalis.
