①POWER LED on Means power connection properly. ②ERROR LED twinkles Means out of paper, cutter or printing head overheat. ③PAPER LED on Means lack of paper, no alarm means all goes well. 1.3.4. Self-test Page make sure the printer is connected with the power and turn it off. a. Press the “FEED” button and simultaneously turn on the power. b. Hold on pressing the “FEED” button for about 2-3 seconds, release “FEED” button when the “ERROR” and “PAPER LED” double-blinking at the same time. c.
Figure 1- 6 Self-test page 1.3.5. Initialization Make sure the printer is connected with the power and turn it off. Press the “FEED” button and simultaneously turn on the power. Hold on pressing the “FEED” button for about 20 seconds, then “ERROR LED” on until “ERROR” and “PAPER LED” double- flash again, release the “FEED” button when buzzer alarming. At this time the printer has been initialized, restoring factory settings. 1.3.6.
Make sure the printer is connected with the power and turn it off. Press the “FEED” button and simultaneously turn on the power. NOTE Before connecting/disconnecting the power cord, make sure that power to the printer and all the devices connected to the printer is turned off. Also make sure the power cable plug is disconnected from the AC outlet. (1) Check the label on the back or bottom of the printer to make sure its voltage matches the AC outlet. (2) Plug the appropriate end into the AC inlet on the back of the printer. (3) Plug the power cord into a properly grounded AC outlet.
2.3. Turning on the Power Make sure that the power cord has been connected as described in 2.1.2. (1) Turn on the power switch located on the front of the printer. The power lamp on the control panel will light up. Power Switch Figure 2- 3 Power Switch CAUTION We recommend that you unplug the printer from the power outlet whenever you do not plan to use it for long periods. Because of this, you should locate the printer so that the power outlet it is plugged into is nearby and easy to access.
3.0. Maintenance Printed characters may become partially unclear due to accumulated paper dust and dirt. To prevent such a problem, paper dust collected in the paper holder and paper transport section and on the surface of the thermal head must be removed periodically. Such cleaning is recommended to be carried out once six month. 3.1. Periodical Cleaning One of the followings occurred, please clean printing head. 1. Printing is not clear. 2. Any vertical column is not clear. 3. Paper feed noisily.
Notice: (1) Please make sure power off when maintaining printer. (2) Don’t touch or scratch printing head surface, roller and sensors. (3) Avoid gas, acetone or other organic solvent. (4) Wait till alcohol completely volatilized, close top over and connect power again.Try print self-test to make sure it works properly. 3.2.
4.0. Peripheral Unit Drive Circuit Peripheral unit drive circuit connector only connects to peripheral units such as cash drawers, etc. Do not connect it to a telephone. Use cables which meet the following specifications. 4.1.
4.2. Drive Circuit The recommended drive unit is shown below. Figure 4- 2 Circuit Diagram Reference 2SD 1866 Circuit Configuration C Drive Output: 24 V, Max. 1.0 A TR1, TR2: equivalent Transistor 2SD1866 or R1=10 kΩ R2=33 kΩ Figure 4- 3 Circuit Configuration Page20 of 21 ITPP047 Thermal Printer Hardware Manual Version 1.
Notes: 1. Pin 1 must be shield drain wire connected to peripheral device frame ground. 2. It is not possible to drive two drives simultaneously. 3. The peripheral drive duty must satisfy the following: ON time / (ON time + OFF time) 0.2 4. Minimum resistance for coils L1 and L2 is 24 Ω. 5. Absolute maximum ratings for diodes D1 and D2 (Ta = 25°C) are: Average Rectified Current Io = 1 A 6.
