MB Cap Ultra 10/24 1A/380S - 85467
MB Cap Ultra 10/24 1A/380S - 85467
system voltage 12 V or 24 V is automatically selected. Approx. 1.5 sec. after start-up the output
voltage is released and the connected loads are supplied. The buffering capacitor is charged the
same way. This operation mode is signaled by the green LED lighting 'U OK'. The capacitors can
only be charged when the supply voltage is higher than the system voltage (voltage during buffer
mode).
By disconnecting the supply respectively by dropping below the minimum input voltage the MB
Cap Ultra switches to buffer mode. The green LED 'U OK' goes off.
When an LED lights up the respective signal contact is closed (see “simplified diagram”).

Shut-Down
The buffer mode can be aborted by connecting a +24 V DC control voltage at connection 1 (+) and
2 (-) of the terminal block 'I/O'. This allows disconnecting the loads connected in a defined state.
Furthermore, due to early switching off a certain amount of energy remains in the capacitor. This
also shortens a subsequent charging process of the capacitors.
Disassembly
Disassembly is carried out by disconnecting the power supply. In order to avoid the subsequent
buffer mode and discharge of the capacitors the module can be switched off by activating the 'shut-
down' without buffer mode.
(see “shut-down”). All LEDs have to go off.
Never disconnect electrical connections during operation!
Establishing electrical connections during operation must also be avoided!
Maintenance
The unit does not include any components that require maintenance by the user.
The unit should be regularly cleaned.

Assembly
The DC supply has to be mounted to ensure the required
cooling. A minimum distance of 40 mm has to be
maintained between the vent opening and adjacent units.
Installation has to be done to ensure sufficient ventilation.
The ambient temperature specified must not be exceeded.
Max. altitude without derating is 1000 m o. NN. In case
drilling chips can get on respectively inside the unit, the unit
has to be covered during assembly.

ON-time depending on load current and ambient
temperature
Only the ON-time is relevant for the consideration
of the charge and discharge cycles. If the buffer
module is charged and operates in standby mode
the unit will not become hot. This corresponds in a
thermal sense to a switched-off unit.
100% ON-time
Continuous charge and discharge mode
permissible.
50% ON-time
Five charge and discharge cycles in
succession permissible.

Calculation of buffering time
Buffering time in sec. =
With long buffering times a power consumption of approx. 130 mA must be considered!
