TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
The Engine will not start.
1. Move thethrottle controlleverto the FASTorSTART position.
2. Make sumthefuoitank isfilled withclanngasoline.Do not useoldgasoline.
3. On a coldongine, pushthe pdmerbutton(optionalon somemodels)fivetimes.
4. Make surethe wirefar the sparkplug isconnectodto thesperk plug.
5. Adjustthe Carburetor.See the "EngineInslxuctionBook'.
6. There iston muchgasolineinthe enginecylinder.Remove and drythe sparkplug.Putthe
throttle controlinthe SLOW Ix_ition. Pullthe recoil-startgripseveraltimes.Installthe spark
plug.Connectthe wireto the sparkplug.Startthe engine.
7. The angina isdifficuRto start in heavyer highgrass.Movethe mowerto a clesndrysurface.
8. Makesurethe enginestoplever is in the operatingposition.
9. Makeawe the fuelvalve isinthe ON pos'_ion.See the "EngineInal=uctionBook'.
10. On alectdc start models, makesurethe wiring horneasis connected.Chargethe battery.
The Engine will not stop.
1. Releasethe enginestoplever.
2. Checkthe enginestopcable. Replacethe cableif bentor damaged.
The Engine performance Is bad.
1. Check the heightof cutsettings. Raisethe heightof cutifthe graasis high.
2. Checkthe bottomofthe bladehousing.Clesnthe blode houalngof graasond ether debris.
3. Checkthe wiretothe spark plug.Make surethe wire Is connected,
4. Cleec the enginecoolingfinsofgrass andotherdebris.
5. Check the corburetoradjustments.See the "EngineInstnJctionBook'.
6. Check the sperk pluggap. Set the sperkpluggab et0.030".
7. Checkthe amountof oil inthe engine.Fillwithoil ifneceasery.
8. Check the engineAircleaner.See the *Engine Instrec_onBook'.
9. The gasoline is bad. Drainand clean the fuel tank. Fillthe fueltank withcleangasoline.
10. Check the throttle control.Make surethe leverIs net Inthe CHOKE poalifon.
Excessive Vlbrstion.
1. Removethe blade.Check the bladeand balanceif necessary.:Seethe blademaintenance
Instructions.
2. Checkfor a bentor brckenblade. A DAMAGED BLADE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST BE
REPLACED.
3. Check the blade adapter. REPLACEA BROKEN BLADEADAPTER.
4. Ifthe vibrationcontinues,takethe mowerto an AuthorizedServiceCenter.
The grass will not discharge correctly.
1. Cleanthe bottomof the mowerhousing.
2. Checkfor a badlywornblade.Removeand sherpantheblade. Forsafety, rsplecetheblade
everytwoyearswithafactoryroplacementblade.
3. Move thethrottlecontrolleverto theFASTpoaltk)n.Checkthespeod ofthe ongine according
to the *EngineInstxuctionBook'.
The grass Is not cut even.
1. Checktheheightodjustment eteachwhesl.Theheightedjuetme_ mustbethesameforeech
wheel.
2. Make surethebladeis sharp.
3. Checkfor a bentor brokenblade.A DAMAGED BLADE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST BE
REPLACED.
4. Check for a brokenblade adapter. REPLACE A BROKENBLADEADAPTER.
