Terminology
Terminology used in the software and Device is as follows:
Subject – the person being measured;
Operator – the person performing measurements;
Object – the soft biological tissue being measured;
Probe - Testing end;
Tap time
1
(impulse time) – the time duration of the mechanical impulse delivered by the
Probe. The Tap time is adjustable by the Operator via the PC software or the Device;
Tap Interval – the time interval between the mechanical impulses in Measurement Series,
which is necessary for recovery of the Object from the elastic deformation caused by the
previous measurement. Tap interval is adjustable by the Operator via PC software;
Delay – the time delay preceding a Measurement series from when the Device is placed in
the range of the measuring position;
Device angle – the Device orientation to the Earth’s gravitational field at the moment of
measurement;
Co-oscillation – is the oscillation of the Object being measured, pre-compressed
subcutaneous superficial tissues and the Probe connected to the Device’s measuring
mechanism;
Accel.Graph – is the acceleration graph of the Object’s oscillation obtained as a result of a
mechanical impulse delivered by the Probe to the Object and registered by the
accelerometer;
Measuring mode – is the mode in which the Measurement series is conducted (Triplescan
or Multiscan);
Pattern – a Measuring protocol that consists of the following: Pattern name, Measuring
mode, Object names and their Measurement profiles. A Pattern may contain up to 50
Objects.
Measurement series – a quantity of measurements of a single Object that is determined by
the Measuring mode;
1
The standard Tap time is 15ms, which is suitable for most measurement cases. By changing the Time, the Force Impulse
will be changed in line with the formula: Force Impulse = Force * Time (the Force separately is not adjustable).
