Please ensure that the surface is clean, dry, free from debris, and sufficiently strong to support the my

mantel shelf.
The surface should be flat to within about 10 mm per running meter (approximately 3/8" per 3 ft). Normally, even in the case that the wall is slightly
uneven, the my

mantel shelf will still be able to be fastened to the wall, there may however be a gap. If the bow, bend or out of square is too
much, shims maybe needed to make the cleat flush to the wall first. Shims are not included in this package.

nor structural.

mantel shelving is a hand finished natural wood product, so cracks and splits can occur if the panels are not handled properly.
Because this is a natural product, the presence of knots, bark, splits, slight bending or bowing, etc, should be expected.
After you have chosen the desired location for the mantel shelf, install the my

mantel shelf in the following manner
1. Measure and mark your mantel shelf's location. Take note of the overall dimensions of the mantel shelf and the height difference of the cleat and
the top of the mantel shelf. From the bottom of the cleat to the top of the mantel shelf can be about 5.5-6 cm or 2 1/8 - 2 3/8" (depending on the
flatness of the wall and final finish of the mantel shelf) . This mantel shelf is designed to be installed with the longest dimension for the width of the
mantel shelf. Top of the mantel shelf has counter sunk holes in face, directly above the cleat.
2. Find your studs with your stud finder and mark the location of where the screws of the layered wooden cleat will be attached to the wall. Take note
that the cleat must be facing out. If placed correctly, there should be a gap in the shape of a triangle to the wall. It is very important to get at least
three wall studs in the wall area the mantel shelf will cover (the more studs, the higher load bearing the mantel shelf will be).
3. Screw the layered wooden cleat to the wall, with the screws provided. These screws should go into the pre-drilled holes of the cleat. Screws
should go into your pre-marked wall location. Make sure the wooden cleat is level. Wall anchors are provided if you are not putting a screw into a
stud/beam. Install all screws to ensure maximum load bearing.
4. Carefully place the mantel shelf on the top of the now secured layered wooden cleat. Be careful to have the top of the mantel shelf facing up.
Check to make sure your mantel shelf is level.
5. Secure your mantel shelf to the layered wooden cleat with the screws provided. Center the mantel shelf on the cleat. These screws should go into
the pre-drilled counter sunk holes in the top of the mantel shelf.
