CHAPTER 2
USING THE SERVER SWITCH UNIT
This section describes the fundamental operations of the server switch unit.
SWITCH OF SERVER SWITCH UNIT
A specified server can be selected in two ways, the use of the server selection switch and the use of the
keyboard (hot key).
If the server of the port being selected is off-powered, the selection remains unchanged. The server
switch unit does not automatically select another server. In such a case, use the server selection switch
or hot-key to select another server.
Keyboard and mouse are enabled only for the server connected to the selected port. Any other servers
do not accept data sent from the keyboard and/or mouse.
However, command processing between the server switch unit and every server is continuously
performed. Accordingly, the mode (e.g., key code mode, LED status, and mouse output mode)
specified for the server becomes valid when the server is selected.
SELECTING SERVER AT POWER ON
While all the servers are off-powered and only a single server is powered on, the server is selected
automatically and connected to the server switch unit.
If all the servers are powered on simultaneously, the selection priority is determined by the ascending
order of the port number (port 1 is the highest, port 8 is the lowest).
