TROUBLESHOOTING
If the server switch unit does not seem to operate as desired, check the unit based on the check list
described below before requesting repair. If symptoms match ones described in the list below, follow
the check list and procedures described for the item.
If proper procedures do not appear below or the procedures do not improve the problem, contact your
service representative.
The Power lamp blinks.
Is the AC cord connected correctly?
Check that the AC cord is connected to the server switch unit and the AC outlet (or UPS)
securely.
Check that the coating of the AC cord is not broken and/or the plug is not bent.
Check that the breaker for the AC outlet to which the AC cord is connected is set to ON.
If the AC cord is connected to a UPS, check that the power of the UPS is ON and that the
power is being supplied from the UPS. Refer to the manual attached to the UPS for
details.
The keyboard and/or mouse operate incorrectly or do not operate.
Are the keyboard and mouse connected correctly to the keyboard and mouse connectors
of the server, respectively?
Check that the keyboard and mouse are connected to the proper connectors on the server.
Is the hot key mode released (the Server Selection lamp blinks)?
If no, press the <Enter> or <Esc> key to exit hot key mode.
The keyboard and mouse for the server are set up correctly?
Check to see if the server is set up correctly. Refer to the user's guide attached to the
server for details.
Is the interface cable correctly connected?
Check the cable connection referring to Chapter 1 for details.
Check that the cable connector is not defective and that the connector pins are is neither
bent nor dirt. If the cable is defective, contact your service representative to request a
replacement of the cable.
Are the keyboard and mouse supported on the NEC Express5800 server?
If the keyboard or mouse in use is not approved by NEC, the server switch unit may not
operate normally. In this case, replace the keyboard and mouse with ones exclusively
designed for the NEC Express5800 server.
