Table 34 SNMP Statistics
Statistic
Description
snmpInBadCtyUses
The total number of SNMP Messages delivered to the SNMP protocol entity that
represented an SNMP operation that was not allowed by the SNMP community
named in the Message.
snmpEnableAuthTraps
An object to enable or disable the authentication traps generated by this entity (the
switch).
snmpInASNParseErrs
The total number of ASN.1 or BER errors encountered by the SNMP protocol entity
when decoding SNMP Messages received.
Note: OSI‟s method of specifying abstract objects is called ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax
Notation One, defined in X.208), and one set of rules for representing such objects
as strings of ones and zeros is called the BER (Basic Encoding Rules, defined in
X.209). ASN.1 is a flexible notation that allows one to define a variety of data types,
from simple types such as integers and bit strings to structured types such as sets
and sequences. BER describes how to represent or encode values of each ASN.1
type as a string of eight-bit octets.
snmpInBadTypes
The total number of SNMP Messages which failed ASN parsing.
