❹ Replacing the Lamp and the Filters
Whenthelampreachestheendofitslife,theLAMPindicatorinthecabinetwillblinkorangeandthemessage“THE
LAMPHASREACHEDTHEENDOFITSUSABLELIFE.PLEASEREPLACETHELAMPANDFILTER.”willappear
(*).Eventhoughthelampmaystillbeworking,replacethelamptomaintaintheoptimalprojectorperformance.After
replacingthelamp,besuretoclearthelamphourmeter.(→page84)
CAUTION
• DONOTTOUCHTHELAMPimmediatelyafterithasbeenused.Itwillbeextremelyhot.Turntheprojector
offandthendisconnectthepowercord.Allowatleastonehourforthelamptocoolbeforehandling.
• Usethespeciedlampforsafetyandperformance.
Toorderthereplacementlamp,specifyyourlamptype,NP44LP.
Thereplacementlampcomeswithlters.
• DONOTREMOVEANYSCREWSexceptonelampcoverscrewandtwolamphousingscrews.Youcouldreceive
anelectricshock.
• Donotbreaktheglassonthelamphousing.
Keepngerprintsofftheglasssurfaceonthelamphousing.Leavingngerprintsontheglasssurfacemight
causeanunwantedshadowandpoorpicturequality.
• Theprojectorwillturnoffandgointostandbymodewhenyoucontinuetousetheprojectorforanother100
hoursafterthelamphasreachedtheendofitslife.Ifthishappens,besuretoreplacethelamp.Ifyoucontinue
tousethelampafterthelampreachestheendofitslife,thelampbulbmayshatter,andpiecesofglassmaybe
scatteredinthelampcase.Donottouchthemasthepiecesofglassmaycauseinjury.Ifthishappens,contact
yourNECdealerforlampreplacement.
*NOTE:Thismessagewillbedisplayedunderthefollowingconditions:
• foroneminuteaftertheprojectorhasbeenpoweredon
• whenthe
(POWER)buttonontheprojectorcabinetorthePOWEROFFbuttonontheremotecontrolispressed
Toturnoffthemessage,pressanybuttonontheprojectorcabinetortheremotecontrol.
Optionallampandtoolsneededforreplacement:
• Phillipsscrewdriver(plus-head)
• Replacementlamp
