en Causes of damage ]Causes of damage Caution! Rough pan bases may scratch the hob. ■ Avoid leaving empty pots and pans on the hotplate. Doing so may cause damage. ■ Do not place hot pans on the control panel, the indicator area, or the hob frame. Doing so may cause damage. ■ Hard or pointed objects dropped on the hob may damage it. ■ Aluminium foil and plastic containers will melt if placed on the hotplate while it is hot. The use of laminated sheeting is not recommended on the hob.

Operating the appliance Operating the hob without the twist knob The hob can also be operated without the twist knob: 1. Switch on the hob using the main switch. 2. Within the next 5 seconds, simultaneously touch and hold the œ and . symbols for 4 seconds. An audible signal will sound. 3. Touch the . symbol repeatedly until the indicator for the required hotplate lights up. 4. Then set the required heat setting using the œ or x symbol. The hotplate has now been activated.
