5. In the User Name field, enter the name for the new account.
You can enter a new user name only when you are creating an account. User names are
up to 64 characters in length and are not case-sensitive. V
alid characters include all the
alphanumeric characters as well as the hyphen (-) and underscore (_) characters. The
user name default is not valid. User names once created cannot be changed or modified.
6. Set the Edit Password field to Enable only when you are changing the password.
The default value is Disable.
7. In the Password field, enter the password for the account.
The characters do not display as they are typed; only asterisks (*) show. Passwords are
up to eight alphanumeric characters in length, and are case-sensitive.
8. In the Confirm Password field, enter the password again, to confirm that you entered it
correctly
.
This field does not display the password as it is typed, but shows asterisks (*).
The Access Mode field displays the user's access mode.
The admin account always has
read/write access, and all other accounts are assigned read-only access. The default
value is read-only.
The Lockout Status field indicates whether the user account is locked out (TRUE or
F
ALSE).
The Password Expiration Date field indicates the current password expiration date.
9. Click the Add button.
The user account is added.
Configure a User Password
To configure a user password:
1. Launch a web browser
.
2. In the address field of your web browser
, enter the IP address of the switch.
The login window opens.
3. Enter admin as the user name, enter your local device password,
and click the Login
button.
The first time that you log in, no password is required. However, you then must specify a
local device password to use each subsequent time that you log in.
The System Information page displays.
