Configure the SNTP Global Settings
To configure the SNTP global settings:
1. Launch a web browser
.
2. In the address field of your web browser
, enter the IP address of the switch.
The login window opens.
3. Enter admin as the user name, enter your local device password,
and click the Login
button.
The first time that you log in, no password is required. However, you then must specify a
local device password to use each subsequent time that you log in.
The System Information page displays.
4. Select System > Management > T
ime > Time Configuration > SNTP Global
Configuration.
When you select the SNTP option as the Clock Source, the SNTP Global Configuration
section is displayed below the
Time Configuration section of the page.
5. Select a Client mode radio button to specify the mode of operation of the SNTP client:
Disable. SNTP is not operational. No SNTP requests are sent from the client and no
received SNTP messages are processed.
Unicast. SNTP operates in a point-to-point fashion. A unicast client sends a request
to a designated server at its unicast address and expects a reply from which it can
determine the time and, optionally, the round-trip delay and local clock offset relative
to the server.
Broadcast. SNTP operates in the same manner as multicast mode but uses a local
broadcast address instead of a multicast address.
The broadcast address has a
single subnet scope while a multicast address has Internet wide scope.
