If you choose the Data Tier button, you see the data tier migration window, with
settings for migrating information from the tier to the volume.
Information is first stored on the data tier. It is not stored on the volume until
migrated there. These settings give you control of when data is migrated. Data
is migrated when either the tier reaches the capacity set in this window, or
according to the schedule set in this window.
Click the Finish button to create the tier and close the window.
ReadyNAS OS creates the tier, balances the volume, resyncs the volume, and changes
the display color for the SSDs to yellow. Note that the balance can take a significant
amount of time on a volume with a lot of metadata. For information about balancing
a volume, see Balance a Volume on page 53.
Enable or Disable Quotas on Volumes
Quotas are determined for individual shares, but must be enabled on the volume
containing the shares. When there are multiple shares on the same volume, quotas
keep one share from using all of the space on the volume, but in some cases quota
monitoring can slow performance. Depending on your application, you might want to
enable or disable quotas.
