Framing

First, ensure that the decking spans will be at maximum

400 mm on centers if they aren’t sister joists will need to

be added to ensure that they are as shown in Figure 1.

We do this because each boards ends must be on its

own joist.

Note: There will be NO butt joisting of any kind when

using this product, each board needs to be fully

sitting on their own joists, therefore, sister joists

might need to be added as shown in Figure 2.

Therefore, it is recommended that you ﬁrst layout how

the decking will be laid on your frame before installing.

The frame needs to be completely level before installing

any boards.

We recommend using pressure treated wood, steel, or

aluminum to build the frame.

Note: Adequate spacing in the joists is required to

keep the deck boards from bending. When using the

Deck-A-Floor PRO system use a maximum of 400

mm on centers.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Components The Deck-A-Floor PRO comes with four diﬀerent components in one box as shown in Figure 3. Component 1: Deck-A-Floor PRO Clip 5 Used on top of pre-existing joists to eliminate the need to fasten every board with a hidden fastener. Clips are designed to fit 1.5 inch (38 mm) joists. Can be cut into shorter lengths to be used.

Installation: 1. Take one of the DAF PRO clips and mark the position on the frame so it lines up with the very end of the clip and then mark a line. You might need to trim/cut oﬀ the dovetail connection on the ends to get them to completely line up with the frame. Continued on the next page.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Clip Cont. **Cutting the Dovetail Connections if Necessary** 1. As seen in Figure 6 you can see that the clips edge is not entirely flush with our frame, therefore, we will need to cut oﬀ the dovetail connections to get it completely flush. 2. First take a DAF PRO Clip and position it upright and take a Stanley knife or shears and cut the dovetail connections oﬀ as shown in Figure 7. 3. After cutting you can see in Figure 8 that the side can now be completely flush with the frame.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Clip Cont. **Shortening the DAF PRO Clip 5** 1. The PRO Clip 5 can be shortened very easily by using a Stanely knife to cut in between the connection of each individual clip as shown in Figure 10. 2. As shown in Figure 11 you can see that we cut the PRO Clip 5 into a 3. 3. Figure 11 shows the result of shortening the clip.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Clip Cont. Continuing Installation: 2. After the line is marked use a chalk line to replicate this across the rest of the frame. A chalk line doesn’t have to be used if your frame is already lined up. 3. Begin installing the first DAF PRO clip by using two M4 x 30 screws or 12d nails as shown in Figure 13. Note: It is important to put your hands on the side of the clips as these will ensure that the clip is straight when you are installing. 4.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Clip Cont. **Sister Joist Clip Installation** 1. Each board ends need to be on their own joists so a PRO Clip will need to be installed on the sister joist if there is one as shown in Figure 18. 2. Using a ruler or straight edge create two lines from the clip adjacent to the sister joist. Note: Remember it is very important to ensure that the clips line up because it will aﬀect the overall installation of the product. 3. The finished installation can be seen in Figure 19.

Deck-A-Floor Locking Insert Installation: 1. The locking insert can be installed as shown in Figure 20 by placing the insert into the middle of the PRO Clip. 2. We recommend using a rubber mallet to hammer down the locking insert into the designated slot provided in each PRO Clip. The designated slot will be slightly lower and it is located in the middle of each clip whether it be the PRO Clip 5 or PRO Clip 1. 3. The finished installation can be seen in Figure 21. 4.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Board Installation: 1. Take the first UltraShield composite board and enter the one side of the boards groove into the DAF PRO clip. 2. Then line of the ends and board with the frame and use your body weight, foot, or mallet to push the other boards groove into the clip. 3. A snapping sound will be heard which will signify that the board has now been clipped into the clip 4. Repeat steps 1-3 until all boards are installed.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Gap Spacer Usage: 1. When installing boards that butt up at sister joists use the gap spacer to give yourself the correct spacing. 2. First install one of the boards by lining it up with your frame as show in Figure 27. 3. Hold the gap spacer in place and take the board and put it against the gap spacer so you are sandwiching the gap spacer with two boards as shown in Figure 28. 4.

Deck-A-Floor PRO Ending During installation one might find that there deck’s length doesn’t entirely quite match up with the DAF PRO Clip as shown in Figure 31. In this case, we recommend to add extra blocks of wood to the frame as additions to the actual foundation to ensure that the clip can rest on the joist firmly. If one needs to end the deck abruptly and doesn’t have anymore room. We recommend using our NewTechWood color head screws with countersinking to fix down the board.
