Shooting (P, S, A, M)
Playback
Flicker or banding appears during live view or movie recording: Choose an option for Flicker reduction
that matches the frequency of the local AC power supply (0 264).
Bright bands appear during live view or movie recording: A flashing sign, flash, or other light source with
brief duration was used during live view or movie recording.
Menu item can not be selected: Some options are not available in all modes.
Shutter-release disabled:
• Non-CPU lens is attached: rotate camera mode dial to A or M (0 47, 298).
• Mode dial rotated to S after shutter speed of Bulb (A) or Time (%) selected in mode M:
choose new shutter speed (0 49).
Full range of shutter speeds not available: Flash in use.
Flash sync speed can be selected using
Custom Setting e1 (Flash sync speed); when using compatible flash units, choose 1/320 s
(Auto FP) or 1/250 s (Auto FP) for full range of shutter speeds (0 244).
Colors are unnatural:
• Adjust white balance to match light source (0 89).
• Adjust Set Picture Control settings (0 105).
Can not measure white balance: Subject is too dark or too bright (0 97).
Image can not be selected as source for preset white balance: Image was not created with D7100
(0 100).
White balance bracketing unavailable:
• NEF (RAW) or NEF+JPEG image quality option selected for image quality (0 66).
• Multiple exposure mode is in effect (0 144).
Effects of Picture Control differ from image to image: A (auto) is selected for sharpening, contrast, or
saturation.
For consistent results over a series of photos, choose another setting (0 108).
Metering can not be changed: Autoexposure lock or movie live view is in effect (0 84, 161).
Exposure compensation can not be used: Choose mode P, S, or A (0 48, 49, 50).
Noise (reddish areas or other artifacts) appears in long time-exposures: Enable long exposure noise
reduction (0 228).
NEF (RAW) image is not played back: Photo was taken at image quality of NEF + JPEG (0 66).
Can not view pictures recorded with other cameras: Pictures recorded with other makes of camera may
not be displayed correctly.
Message is displayed stating that no images are available for playback: Select All for Playback folder
(0 217).
