Time-Lapse Photography
The camera automatically takes photos at selected intervals to create a silent time-
lapse movie using the options currently selected for Movie settings in the shooting
menu (0 65).
1 Select Time-lapse photography in the
shooting menu.
Press the G button to display the menus.
Highlight Time-lapse photography in the
shooting menu and press 2.
2 Press 2.
Press 2 to proceed to Step 3 and choose an
interval and shooting time.
To record a time-
lapse movie using the default interval of 5
seconds and shooting time of 25 minutes,
proceed to step 5.
3 Choose the interval.
Press 4 or 2 to highlight minutes or
seconds; press 1 or 3 to change.
Choose an
interval longer than the slowest anticipated
shutter speed.
Press 2 to continue.
A Before Shooting
Before beginning time-lapse photography, take a test shot at current settings (framing the
photo in the viewfinder for an accurate exposure preview) and view the results in the
monitor.
To record changes in brightness, choose manual exposure (0 78); for consistent
coloration, choose a white balance setting other than auto (0 115).
We recommend that
you briefly switch to movie live view and check the current image area crop in the monitor
(0 57); note, however, that time-lapse photography is not available in live view.
Use of a tripod is recommended.
Mount the camera on a tripod before shooting begins.
To
ensure that shooting is not interrupted, use an optional EH-5b AC adapter and EP-5B power
connector or a fully-charged EN-EL15 battery.
