Face-Priority
AF
The camera's ability
to
detect faces depends on a variety
of
factors, including
whether
or
not
the subject
is
facing
the
camera. The camera may be unable
to
detect subjects
that
are
not
facing
the
camera
or
faces
that
are hidden by sunglasses or
other
obstructions or
that
take
up
too
much
or
too
little
of
the
frame.
If
no
face
is
detected
whE~n
the shutter-release
button
is
pressed halfway,
the
camera will focus on the subject in the center
of
the frame.
The camera will continue
to
focus until a face
is
detected or
the
shutter-release
button
is
pressed halfway.
If
a flashing
double
red border
is
displayed, the camera
is
unable
to
focus;
recompose the picture and
try
again.

Using Autofocus in Live View
Autofocus
is
slower in live view. The camera may be unable
to
focus in
the
following situations:
The subject contains lines parallel
to
the
long edge
of
the
frame
The subject lacks contrast
The subject in
the
focus
point
contains areas
of
sharply contrasting brightness,
or
the
subject
is
lit
by spot
lighting
or
by a neon sign
or
other
lig 1t source
that
changes in
brightness
A cross (star) filter
or
other
special filter
is
used
The subject appears smaller than
the
focus
point
The subject
is
dominated
by regular geometric patterns
(e.g.,
windows in a skyscraper)
The subject
is
moving
Note
that
the
focus
point
may sometimes be displayed in green when
the
camera
is
unable
to
focus.
Use
an
AF-S
lens. The desired results may
not
be achieved
with
other
lenses or teleconverters.

The Shooting Information Display
To
hide
or
display indicators in
the
monitor
in live view mode, press
the
m button.

HDMI
When the camera
is
attached
to
an
HOMI video device, the
camera
monitor
will
turn
off
and
the
video device will display
the view
through
the
lens
as
shown at right.
