Image Quality
The D800 supports the following image quality options.

436 for information on the number of pictures that can be stored
at different image quality and size settings.

NEF (RAW) NEF
RAW data from the image sensor are saved
directly to the memory card in Nikon Electronic
Format (NEF).
Settings such as white balance
and contrast can be adjusted on a computer
after shooting.
TIFF (RGB)
TIFF
(RGB)
Record uncompressed TIFF-RGB images at a bit
depth of 8 bits per channel (24-bit color).
TIFF is
supported by a wide variety of imaging
applications.
JPEG fine
JPEG
Record JPEG images at a compression ratio of
roughly 1:4 (fine image quality).
