The Smart Portrait Menu
Image Mode (Image Size and Quality)
See “Image Mode (Image Size and Quality)” (E29) for more information on
Image mode.
Skin Softening
Enable skin softening.
When skin softening is enabled, the icon for the current setting is displayed on the
monitor during shooting (A8). When Off is selected, an icon for the current setting is
not displayed. The effects of skin softening are not visible when framing pictures for
shooting. Check the degree of skin softening performed in playback mode.
Smile Timer
The camera detects human faces and then automatically releases the shutter
whenever a smile is detected.
When smile timer is enabled, the icon for the current setting is displayed on the
monitor during shooting (A8). When Off is selected, an icon for the current
setting is not displayed.

Option Description
S High When the shutter is released, the camera detects one or
more human faces (up to 3), and processes the image to
make facial skin tones softer before saving the image.
The degree of skin softening applied can be selected.
R Normal (default setting)
Q Low
k Off Disables skin softening.

When the camera detects a human face with smile, it
automatically takes a single picture.
Y On (continuous)
When the camera detects a human face with smile, it automatically
takes 5 pictures continuously at a rate of 3 frames per second.
g On (BSS)
When the camera detects a human face with smile, it automatically
takes pictures using BSS (Best Shot Selector) (

k Off Disables smile timer.
