Using Macro Mode
When using macro mode, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 1 cm
(0.4 in.) from the front of the lens.
This feature is useful when taking close-up pictures of flowers and other small
subjects.
1 Press I (p macro mode) on the multi
selector.
2 Press the multi selector H or I to select ON
and press the k button.
• If the k button is not pressed within a few seconds,
the selection will be canceled.
3 Use the zoom control to set the zoom ratio to
a position where F and the zoom indicator
light in green.
• How close you can be to the subject when shooting
depends on the zoom ratio.
At the zoom position where F and the zoom indicator light in green, the camera can
focus on subjects as close as about 10 cm (4 in.) or farther from the lens. At the G
zoom position, it can focus on subjects as close as about 1 cm (0.4 in.) or farther from
the lens.
B Note on Using the Flash
The flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft 8 in.).
C Autofocus
In shooting modes such as scene modes that cannot use the Autofocus mode (A62), Full-time
AF may be turned on and the camera will adjust focus even if the shutter-release button is not
pressed halfway when macro mode is set. You may hear the sound of the camera focusing.
C The Macro Mode Setting
• Macro mode cannot be used when using certain shooting modes. See “Available Functions”
(A49) and “List of the Default Settings” (A59) for more information.
• The changed macro mode setting applied in A (auto) mode is saved in the camera’s memory
even after the camera is turned off.
