Preferences— Batch Sc an

The “File Saving Options” dialog contains the following:

File Naming

Files saved during a batch scan are assigned names con sist ing

of a preﬁ x, a ﬁ le number of from one to six digits assigned

in as cend ing or der from a user-speciﬁ ed starting point, and

a sufﬁ x. The options in the “File Naming” area control the

preﬁ x, ﬁ le num ber, and sufﬁ x.

of Digits

Specify the number of digits in the ﬁ le number.

Sufﬁ x Enter a sufﬁ x of up to 65 characters.

Preﬁ x Enter a preﬁ x of up to 65 characters.

Starting

Index

File numbers are assigned in ascending order starting from

this number.

Sample Shows a sample of the ﬁ le names that will be assigned.

Compression

Level

If the selected ﬁ le format supports compression, the

amount of compression can be selected from this

menu.

File Format

Select a format from NEF, TIFF, TIFF (CMYK), JPEG,

BMP (Windows only), and PICT (Macintosh only).

To choose a destination folder for the images, click

this button and navigate to the desired folder.

File-Naming Conventions

Windows

Where long ﬁ le names are supported, the maximum length is 255

characters. File names may not contain quotes or any of the following

characters: “\\” “/” “:” “,” “;” “*” “<“ “>” and “|”.

In environments that do not support long ﬁ le names, the maxi-

mum length is eight characters; ﬁ le names may not contain spaces,

quotes, or any of the following characters: “\\” “/” “:” “,” “;” “*” “?”

“<“ “>” and “|”.

Macintosh

The maximum length for Macintosh ﬁ le names is thir ty-one characters.

Colons (“:”) are not allowed.
