Custom Settings: Fine-Tuning Camera Settings
Choose whether the camera detects and focuses on faces or
eyes, either of human portrait subjects or of dogs and cats,
when [Auto-area AF] is selected for AF-area mode.

Option Description
[Face and eye
detection on]
When the camera detects a human face, it
automatically focuses on one or the other of the
subject’s eyes. If the eyes are not detected, the camera
will instead focus on the subject’s face.
[Face
detection on]
When the camera detects a human face, it
automatically focuses on the subject’s face.
[Animal
detection]
When the camera detects a face of a dog or cat, it
automatically focuses on one or the other of the
subject’s eyes. If the eyes are not detected, the camera
will instead focus on the subject’s face.
[Off] Face and eye detection disabled.
