Intended use
This product is designed to control a suitable uorescent lamp (CCFL) that is used as a
backlight for LC displays.
Before mounting, connecting and using the product, pay attention to the technical data in the
data sheet, which you can download on the product web page at www.conrad.com.
The safety information and all other information in these operating instructions must be
followed! Read the operating instructions carefully, store them in a safe place and make them
available to any other users of the product.
Using the product for any purpose other than described above may damage the product and
create hazards such as short circuits, re and electrical shock etc. The entire product must not
be modied or reassembled!

Meaning of symbols
The symbol with the lightning in the triangle is used if there is a risk to your health,
e.g. due to an electrical shock.
This symbol indicates particular hazards during handling or operation.
The „hand“ symbol indicates special information and advice on operation.
Safety instructions
Any damage to the product caused due to not following these operating
instructions will void the warranty/guarantee. We shall not be liable for any
consequential damages!
We shall not be liable for damage to property or personal injuries caused by
improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. Such cases will
void the warranty/guarantee.
Unauthorized reassembly and/or modication of the product is not permitted for
safety and licensing reasons (CE). Repair work should only be carried out by a
specialist.
The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly, as this may become
dangerous playing material for children.
The product must only be used in dry, enclosed rooms. It must not become damp
or wet!
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, dust,
ammable gases, vapours and solvents.
Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are
connected to the product.
This product generates a high voltage.
Before using for the rst time, the product must therefore be installed in a suitable
housing in accordance with the relevant VDE regulations (VDE 0100, VDE 0701)
in order to protect against accidental contact. Ensure that there is sufcient
ventilation.
The product must only be mounted and connected when it is disconnected from
the power supply! Mounting and connecting the product when it is connected to
the power supply may generate a fatal electrical shock!
Never touch the product during or immediately after use. This constitutes the risk
of a fatal electrical shock!
If in any doubt, the product should be installed and connected by a qualied
electrician who is familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)!
By carrying out improper work on devices that generate a high voltage, you
endanger not only yourself, but also others!
If you suspect that safe operation is no longer possible, stop using the product and
make sure that it cannot be operated unintentionally. Then get a technician to test
the product or dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the product is visibly damaged
- the product does not work or is not working properly (ickering light, emits
smoke or smell of burning, audible crackling noise, the product or its adjacent
surfaces are discoloured)
- the product was stored in unfavourable conditions
- the product was subjected to rough handling during transport
Do not touch the product if it is damaged or malfunctions; there is a risk of a fatal
electrical shock!
Turn off the voltage/power supply rst. Then get a technician to check/repair the
product.
In schools, educational facilities, hobby and DIY workshops, the product is to be
operated under the responsible supervision of qualied personnel.
In industrial facilities, the accident prevention regulations for electrical equipment
and facilities issued by the Industrial Employers' Liability Association must be
adhered to.
If you are not sure about the correct connection or use, or if questions arise which
are not covered by these operating instructions, please do not hesitate to contact
us or another qualied specialist.
Instructions for connection and operation
Pay attention to the data sheet included with the product when wiring the inverter.
Begin by mounting the inverter in a suitable location.
Ensure that the inverter is protected against accidental contact and that there is a
sufcient clearance from other boards and cables etc.
Connect the uorescent lamp to the output on the inverter using a suitable connection cable.
Fluorescent lamps must not be subjected to mechanical loads as they break very
easily. The mercury inside the uorescent lamp is harmful when touched or when the
vapour is inhaled.
Lay all cables such that they will not be damaged or bent.
Seal the housing that contains the inverter, the uorescent lamp and the LC display.
Turn on the operating voltage.
Turn off the operating voltage if the uorescent lamp does not turn on. Then check that
the polarity/operating voltage is correct and that the inverter is correctly connected to the
uorescent lamp.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory regulations.
