2.9.8 Material Content Compliance
European Union (EU) Directive 2011/65/EU, “Restriction of the use of certain
hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment” (recast), and
Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 restrict the use of lead, mercury,
cadmium, hexavalent chromium, phthalate, and certain flame retardants in electrical
and electronic equipment. The Directive 2011/65 EU applies to electrical and
electronic products placed on the EU market after 2 January 2013, and the (EU)
2015/863 amendment after 22 July 2019. Nokia products shipped to the EU comply
with the EU RoHS 2 Directive and latest amendments. Nokia ensures that equipment
is assessed in accordance with the Harmonised Standard EN IEC 63000:2018
(CENELEC) on “Technical documentation for the assessment of electrical and
electronic products with respect to the restriction of hazardous substances”.
