When a carry case, belt clip or other form of device holder is used for body-worn operation, it should not contain metal and should provide at least the above-stated separation distance from the body. Note that mobile devices may be transmitting even if you are not making a voice call. Get started Get started with the basics, and have your phone up and running in no time.
Parts of the device are magnetic. Metallic materials may be attracted to the device. Do not place credit cards or other magnetic storage media near the device, because info stored on them may be erased. Insert the SIM and memory card Learn how to insert SIM and memory cards. 1. Open the SIM and memory card tray by putting the provided tray opener into the hole next to the tray. 2. Put the nano-SIM into the slot 1 with the contact area face down.
2. Follow the instructions shown on your phone. Dual SIM settings You can have 2 SIMs in your phone, for example, one for your work and one for your personal use. Dual SIM features When, for example, making a call, you can choose which SIM to use by tapping the corresponding SIM 1 or SIM 2 button. Your phone shows the network status for both SIMs separately.
To lock your keys and screen, press the power key. Unlock the keys and screen Press the power key, and swipe up across the screen, or use the fingerprint sensor. If asked, provide additional credentials. Use the touch screen Avoid contacting the touchscreen with other electrical devices, using excessive pressure, or tapping it with sharp objects. It’s best to use your fingers or dedicated accessories. Leaving the touchscreen on for a long time may result in afterimages (screen burn-in) or ghosting.
Scroll through a long list or menu Slide your finger quickly in a flicking motion up or down the screen, and lift your finger. To stop the scrolling, tap the screen. Zoom in or out Place 2 fingers on an item, such as a map, photo, or web page, and slide your fingers apart or together. Lock the screen orientation The screen rotates automatically when you turn the phone 90 degrees.
Basics Learn how to get the most out of your new phone. Personalize your phone Learn how to personalise the Home screen, and how to change ringtones. Change your wallpaper Tap Settings > Display > wallpaper. Change your phone ringtone Tap Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone. Change your message notification sound Tap Settings > Sound > Message notification. Note: Each SIM has its own ringtone you can change. Open and close an app On the Home screen, select an app icon to open it.
Tap quick setting buttons to activate some features. To see more quick setting buttons, drag the quick settings menu further down. To rearrange buttons, tap EDIT, tap and hold a button, and then drag it to another location. Change the volume If you have trouble hearing your phone ringing in noisy environments, or calls are too loud, you can change the volume to your liking by using the volume keys on the side of your phone.
Change the phone screen settings Set the phone screen to switch off after a short time. Tap Settings > Display > Sleep and select the time. Lower the screen brightness Tap Settings > Display > Brightness level. Make sure that Automatic brightness is unchecked. To adjust the brightness, drag the Brightness level slider. Stop apps from running in the background Tap the square key, and close the apps you don’t need. Use location services selectively Switch location services off when you don’t need them.
Stop data roaming Tap Settings > Mobile networks, and switch Data roaming off. Write text Learn how to write text quickly and efficiently using your phone’s keyboard. Use the on-screen keyboard Writing with the on-screen keyboard is easy. You can use the keyboard when holding your phone in portrait or landscape mode. The keyboard layout can vary in different apps and languages. To open the on-screen keyboard, tap a text box. Switch between upper and lower case characters Tap the shift key.
Use keyboard word suggestions Your phone suggests words as you write, to help you write quickly and more accurately. Word suggestions may not be available in all languages. When you start writing a word, your phone suggests possible words. When the word you want is shown in the suggestion bar, select the word. To see more suggestions, tap and hold the suggestion. Tip: If the suggested word is marked in bold, your phone automatically uses it to replace the word you wrote.

Contacts Save and organise your friends' phone numbers. Tap Contacts. Save a contact from call history 1. Tap next to the number you want to save. 2. Tap and select if you want to Create new contact or Upgrade existing contact. 3. Choose where you want to save your contact. 4. Fill out additional information, and tap .
Create, edit, or delete a contact group 1. Go to Groups tab. Make sure that Groups tab is active. If it’s hidden, tap and check Groups. 2. Tap > Edit tabs . Send and receive messages Keep in touch with your friends and family through text messages. Tap Messages. Send a message 1. Tap . 2. To add a recipient, type a number in the recipients box. To add a contact, start typing their name, and tap the contact. 3. Type your message in the text box. 4. Tap . Read a message Tap the message you want to read.
To delete an account, tap account. > Settings, choose which account to remove, and tap Remove Send mail 1. Tap . 2. In To box, type in an address, or tap to add a contact. 3. Type in the message subject, and the mail. 4. Tap . Read mail Tap the message you want to read. Reply to mail In the message, tap Reply, or Reply all. Delete mail In the message, tap . You can also delete messages by swiping them right or left in your inbox.
Tap Camera, and the shutter button. To record video, tap . Take a selfie To take a selfie easily, use the front camera of your phone. In Camera app, tap . Use your camera like a pro To make sure you have every aspect of your photo under control, set the camera to Manual mode. In Camera app, tap > Capture settings > Manual. Take photos with a timer In camera app, tap . The button shows the timer setting. To change it, tap it again.
Connect your phone to the computer with a compatible USB cable. To set the USB connection type, open the notification panel, and tap the USB notification. Share your photos and videos You can share your photos and videos quickly and easily for your friends and family to see. 1. Tap Settings > Tethering & portable hotspot. 2. Switch the Portable WLAN hotspot on to share your mobile data connection over WLAN, or Bluetooth tethering to use Bluetooth. Search the web Explore the web and the outside world with search function. You can use the keyboard to write your search words. 1. In browser, tap the search bar. 2. Write your search word in the search box, and tap word from the proposed matches. . You can also select a search Close internet connections Save your battery by closing internet connections that are open in the background. You can do it without closing any apps. 1. Tap Settings > WLAN. 2. Switch WLAN to Off.
2. To add a song to your new playlist, tap New. To add a song to an existing playlist, select the playlist. Add songs to your phone If you have music or videos stored on your computer, but want to access them on your phone, use a USB cable to sync the media between your phone and computer. 1. Connect to a WLAN Connecting to a WLAN network is a handy way of accessing the internet. When out and about, you can connect to WLAN networks in public places, such as a library or internet café. 4. Tap Settings > WLAN. 5. Switch WLAN to On. 6. Select the connection you want to use. Your WLAN connection is active when is shown on the status bar at the top of the screen.
Bluetooth You can connect wirelessly to other compatible devices, such as phones, computers, headsets, and car kits. You can also send your photos to compatible phones or to your computer. Connect to a wireless headset With a wireless headset (sold separately), you can speak on the phone hands-free – you can continue what you're doing, such as working at your computer, during a call.
4. You can see the Bluetooth phones within range. Tap the phone you want to connect to, and tap Pair. 5. If the other phone needs a passcode, type in or accept the passcode. The passcode is only used when you connect to something for the first time. Send your content using Bluetooth When you want to share your content or send photos you've taken to a friend, use Bluetooth to send your stuff to compatible devices. You can use more than one Bluetooth connection at a time.
Move apps to a memory card Expand your phone’s memory with a memory card. The quality of your memory card may affect the performance of your phone greatly. To get the best out of your phone, use a fast 4–128GB card by a well-known manufacturer. For more info on memory cards, check the frequently asked questions. The memory card is sold separately. To install apps on a memory card, it should be formatted as internal. Tap Settings > Apps, tap the app name and Storage > Move to SD card.
Protect your phone with your fingerprint 4. Tap Settings > Security > Fingerprint. Tap Continue to confirm you want to add the fingerprint. 5. Select what backup unlocking method you want to use for the lock screen and follow the instructions shown on your phone. 6. Follow the instructions shown on your phone If there is a fingerprint sensor error, and you cannot use alternative sign-in methods to recover or reset the phone in any way, your phone will require service.
PUK or PUK2 These are required to unblock a PIN or PIN2 code. If the codes are not supplied with your SIM card, contact your network service provider. Security code (lock code, password) This helps you protect your phone against unauthorised use. You can set your phone to ask for the lock code that you define. Keep the code secret and in a safe place, separate from your phone. If you forget the code and your phone is locked, your phone will require service.

This may cause the transfer of large amounts of data, which may result in data costs. You may also need to subscribe to some features.
