Introduction The Wireless Car Kit CK-1W can be connected without cables to a compatible phone that supports Bluetooth wireless technology. The main parts of the Wireless Car Kit are the handsfree unit (HF-1W) and the remote control button (CU-2). Read this user’s guide carefully before using the Wireless Car Kit. More information is given in the user's guide of your phone.
Introduction Bluetooth devices that support the Handsfree profile. ("Profile" in this case means a set of Bluetooth commands that your phone uses for controlling the Wireless Car Kit). The Wireless Car Kit is compliant with and adopts Bluetooth Specification 1.1. However, interoperability between the Wireless Car Kit and other products with Bluetooth wireless technology is not guaranteed because it depends on compatibility.
1. Getting started Note: The use of wireless devices may be restricted in some situations. Observe any restrictions and obey all signs and instructions concerning use of wireless devices. ■ Overview The Wireless Car Kit is controlled with the remote control button CU-2. The parts of the remote control button are described below. For information about other parts of the car kit, refer to the installation guide that comes with it. 1 - Button: Answers or ends a call.
Getting started 2 - Ring: Adjusts the volume of the car kit speaker. When you turn the ring clockwise, the volume is increased. When you turn the ring counterclockwise, the volume is decreased. 3 - Indicator light: Indicates the current status of the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the car kit. When the light is shown, your phone is connected to the car kit. 4 - Connection cable: Links the remote control button to the HF-1W handsfree unit. ■ Taking the car kit into use for the first time 1.
Once you have entered the passcode, your phone becomes the default phone that uses the car kit, if the car kit has not been previously paired with another phone. See also Using the car kit with several phones on page 12. The indicator light of the remote control button is shown, and the car kit appears in the phone menu where you can view the Bluetooth devices that are currently paired with your phone. 7. Using the remote control button 2. Using the remote control button Before using the car kit, make sure that • the car ignition is turned on. • the car kit is paired and connected to your phone. For pairing the car kit, see Taking the car kit into use for the first time on page 7. For connecting the car kit, see Connecting the paired car kit to your phone below.
■ Making a call When the car kit is connected to your phone, you can make calls with your phone normally. ■ Voice dialling When no call is in progress, press and hold the button until you hear a tone indicating that you can say the name you want as a voice tag. Say the voice tag. The phone plays the voice tag and dials the corresponding phone number. You can also activate voice dialling with your phone. For details on using voice dialling, see the user’s guide of your phone.
Using the remote control button ■ Redialling the last number dialled Press the button twice briefly while no call is in progress. ■ Adjusting the volume of the car kit speaker Turn the ring around the button clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease the volume. ■ Switching the call between car kit and phone You can switch the active call between the car kit and the phone or vice versa. Press and hold the button or use the corresponding function in your phone.
■ Disconnecting the car kit from the phone You can disconnect the car kit from your phone, for example, when you want to use another Bluetooth device with your phone. The car kit can be disconnected in the following ways: • Turn off the car ignition. If you have a call in progress, the car kit will be disconnected only after the call has ended. OR: • Disconnect the car kit in the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
Using the remote control button If the car ignition is turned on and there are several paired phones in the vicinity, the car kit tries to find the "default phone" within a few seconds. If the car kit cannot connect to the "default phone" (e.g. because it is switched off or its user rejects the connection), the car kit tries to connect to the "last used phone" within a few seconds. Thereafter, you can connect to the car kit in the phone’s Bluetooth menu.
Care and maintenance Your Wireless Car Kit and remote control button are products of superior design and craftsmanship and should be treated with care. The suggestions below will help you to fulfil any warranty obligations and to enjoy these products for many years. • Keep all enhancements out of the reach of small children. • Keep the Wireless Car Kit and the remote control button dry. Precipitation, humidity and all types of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that will corrode electronic circuits.
