BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the new NORDICTRACK® T8.0 treadmill. The T8.0 treadmill provides an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable. manual. To help us assist you, note the product model number and serial number before contacting us. The model number and the location of the serial number decal are shown on the front cover of this manual. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before you use the treadmill.
PART IDENTIFICATION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly. The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly. Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see if it is preattached. Extra parts may be included.
ASSEMBLY • Assembly requires two persons. • To identify small parts, see page 8. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until you nish all assembly steps. • Assembly requires the following tools: the included hex keys one adjustable wrench • After shipping, there may be an oily substance on the exterior of the treadmill. This is normal.
2. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Locate the Upright Wire (91) bundled around the front of the Base (29). Cut the plastic tie securing the Upright Wire. Route the Upright Wire out of the indicated hole. 2 See the inset drawing. Cut the plastic tie near the Upright Wire (91). Be careful not to damage the Upright Wire. 29 91 Cut Tie Hole Cut 91 3. Press a Base Cap (87) into each side of the Base (29).
4. Identify the Left Upright (84). Have a second person hold the Left Upright near the Base (29). 4 84 See the inset drawing. Tie the wire tie in the Left Upright (84) securely around the end of the Upright Wire (91). Then, insert the Upright Wire into the lower end of the Left Upright as you pull the other end of the wire tie through the Left Upright. Wire Tie 91 91 Wire Tie 84 29 5. Hold the Left Upright (84) against the Base (29). Be careful not to pinch the wires.
6. Hold the Right Upright (85) against the Base (29). Partially tighten three 3/8" x 4" Screws (3) with three 3/8" Star Washers (10) into the Right Upright and the Base; do not fully tighten the Screws yet. 6 85 10 29 3 7. Identify the Left and Right Base Covers (88, 89). Slide the Left and Right Base Covers onto the Left and Right Uprights (84, 85) as shown.
8. Identify the left handrail assembly (A). If there is a wire in the Handrail (79), remove and discard it. 8 12 91 Hold the left handrail assembly (A) near the Left Upright (84). Insert the wire tie on the Upright Wire (91) into the bottom and out of the end of the Handrail (79) as shown. Then, pull the Upright Wire through the Handrail. 8 B A Wire Tie Attach the left Handrail (79) to the Left Upright (84) with two 5/16" x 2 3/4" Screws (12) and two 5/16" Star Washers (8).
10. Set the Console Base (98) face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the Console Base. 10 11 Remove the two screws (C) from the Pulse Crossbar (81). Remove the Pulse Crossbar and discard the screws. 101 98 Remove the four 5/16" x 5/8" Screws (11) from the Console Frame (101). The Screws will be used in a later step. C 11 81 11. Identify the Left and Right Trays (95, 96). 11 Attach the Trays (95, 96) to the Console Base (98) with eight #8 x 1/2" Screws (1).
12. IMPORTANT: To avoid damaging the Pulse Crossbar (81), do not use power tools and do not overtighten the #10 x 3/4" Screws (4). 12 4 5 Orient the Pulse Crossbar (81) as shown. Attach the Pulse Crossbar to the Handrails (79) with four #10 x 3/4" Screws (4) and four #10 Star Washers (5). Start all four Screws, and then tighten them. 79 Make sure that the Upright Wire (91) isn’t pinched. Firmly tighten the four 5/16" x 2 3/4" Screws (12). 12 4 91 81 5 79 12 13.
14. Set the console assembly on the Handrails (79). Make sure that no wires are pinched. Insert the excess Upright Wire (91) behind the Console Frame (101). 14 Console Assembly 101 Attach the console assembly to the brackets on the Handrails (79) with the four 5/16" x 5/8" Screws (11) that you removed in step 10. Start all four Screws, but do not tighten them yet. 91 79 79 11 11 15. Attach the Pulse Crossbar (81) to the console assembly with six #8 x 1/2" Screws (1).
. Raise the Frame (57) to the position shown. Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed. 17 Orient the Storage Latch (54) so that the large barrel and the latch knob are oriented as shown. 57 Remove any ties from the end of the Storage Latch (54). Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch to the Base (29) with a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (2) and a 3/8" Nut (9). 9 2 Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch (54) to the Frame (57) with a 3/8" x 2" Bolt (2) and a 3/8" Nut (9).
THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITOR The heart rate monitor consists of a chest strap and a sensor. Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor as shown. Then, press the end of the sensor under the buckle on the chest strap. The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor.
OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT HOW TO CONNECT THE POWER CORD nominal 120-volt circuit capable of carrying 15 or more amps. To avoid overloading the circuit, do not plug other electrical devices, except for lowpower devices such as cell phone chargers, into the surge suppressor or into an outlet on the same circuit. IMPORTANT: The treadmill is not compatible with GFCI-equipped outlets and may not be compatible with AFCI-equipped outlets.
CONSOLE DIAGRAM FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE You can even listen to your favorite workout music or audio books with the console’s stereo sound system while you exercise. The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you use the manual mode, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button. As you exercise, the console will display instant exercise feedback.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before turning on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components. 1. Insert the key into the console. Plug in the power cord (see page 19). Next, locate the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord. Press the power switch into the reset position.
4. Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. The My Trail tab will show a track that represents 1/4 mile (400 m). As you exercise, the white rectangle will show your progress. The My Trail tab will also show the number of laps you complete. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase or decrease button or one of the numbered % Grade buttons. Each time you press one of the buttons, the treadmill will gradually adjust to the selected incline setting.
6. Measure your heart rate if desired. Press the Manual fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan. Press the Auto fan button to select the auto mode or to turn off the fan. Note: If you use the handgrip heart rate monitor and the chest heart rate monitor at the same time, the console will not display your heart rate accurately. For information about the chest heart rate monitor, see page 18.
HOW TO USE AN ONBOARD WORKOUT During the workout, the profiles on the speed and incline tabs Current Segment will show your progress. The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout. The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed or incline setting for the current segment. At the end of each segment, a series of tones will sound and the next segment of the profile will begin to flash.
If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout, you can manually override the setting by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons; however, when the next segment of the workout begins, the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment. 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 21. 2. Insert the iFit module into the console.
When you select an iFit workout, the display will show the duration of the workout, the distance you will walk or run, and the approximate number of calories you will burn. The display may also show the name of the workout. If you select a competition workout, the display will count down to the beginning of the race. 7. Measure your heart rate if desired. THE INFORMATION MODE into the reset position, and insert the key into the console. However, when you remove the key, the displays will remain lit, although the buttons will not function. If the demo mode is turned on, the word ON will appear in the matrix. To turn on or turn off the demo mode, press the Enter button. The console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill information and allows you to personalize console settings. 1. Select the information mode.
HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. Before moving the treadmill, fold it as described at the left. CAUTION: Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. c. Remove the key from the console, and then reinsert it. d. If the treadmill still will not run, please see the front cover of this manual. SYMPTOM: The power does not turn on SYMPTOM: The console displays remain lit when you remove the key from the console a.
Locate the Reed Switch (52) and the Magnet (51) on the left side of the Pulley (50). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). If necessary, loosen the #8 x 3/4" Tek Screw (13), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then retighten the Screw. Reattach the Motor Hood (not shown) with the five #8 x 3/4" Screws (not shown) and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading. b.
SYMPTOM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on b. If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both idler roller screws clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in. (5 to 7 cm) off the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back. 1 2. Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended.
