Safety 2-9
2.9 Integrated Safety Systems
The MH-900 has a built-in safety system that automatically protects personnel from being injured by
machine motion. This system consists of the following:
Safety Interlock System
Light Beacon
2.9.1 Safety Interlock System
Interlock Sensors detect the door status (open or closed). All motion stops when the door is open.
2.9.2 Light Beacon
The Light Beacon is a device that displays system status and can warn the operator when fault conditions
exist. The beacon has red, yellow, green, and blue lights that can be solid or flashing. The beacon also
has an audible alarm. Table 2-2 provides possible reasons for each color indication.
NOTE Software and hardware share control of the beacon lights. Hardware-driven displays may
override those caused by software conditions and vice versa. Flashing light commands
have priority over solid-light commands.
Table 2-2 Light Beacon Color Indications
Beacon Color System Status
RED
ALERT
All motion is disabled. One of the following conditions may exist:
Solid Emergency stop condition.
Flashing MH-900 jammed during operation OR safety PLC has detected
a fault in the interlock system and has disconnected power to
the shuttle and elevator amplifiers.
YELLOW
CAUTION
A solid yellow light indicates the MH-900 is idle.
GREEN
OPERATION
A solid green light indicates the MH-900 is fully operational.
A solid green light indicates a successful start up.
During production, a solid green light indicates the MH-900 is operating
normally.
BLUE
OUT OF CARRIERS
The blue light indicates the MH-900 is out of carriers (upstream) or all
magazines are full (downstream).
