6.12.1 Example for configuring PAP authentication
Networking requirements
As shown in Figure 6-2, Router A and Router B connect through the POS interface. You are
required to make Router A (the authenticator) authenticate Router B (the authenticated) in
PAP mode.

Configuration roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1. Add the user name and password of Router B to the local user list of Router A.
2. Configure Router A to authenticate Router B in PAP mode.
3. Configure the local user name and password on Router B.
Data preparation
To complete the configuration, you need the following data:
• The user name and password of Router B are rtb and router respectively
• The IP address of the interface on Router A is 10.110.0.1/24
