Step Three: Connect electric rewind hose reel to battery.
WARNING
Batteries are hazardous because they contain caustic acid, can emit explosive gases, and can cause electric
shock.
Caution must be exercised when making connections to a battery to avoid shock and contact with the
acid, and to prevent any sparking that could lead to an explosion.
ALWAYS follow the safety instructions and steps listed below in exact sequence when connecting the
sprayer’s battery cord wires to the battery terminals.
1. Preparatory safety
Preparatory safety steps:
ALWAYS use eye protection.
NEVER smoke or work near sparks or other sources of ignition.
NEVER touch both battery terminals at the same time with your hand
or any non-insulated tools.
If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, flush immediately with water
and neutralize with baking soda.
2. Connect wires to
solenoid
NOTE: The hook-up is partially connected at the factory; only the portion
to be accomplished on site will be covered. These procedures
describe how to connect to a vehicle battery or to an external
battery.
Connect a 10 AWG or larger wire to the open terminal on the solenoid.
3. Connect to vehicle
battery
a. Disconnect vehicle battery ground wire
b. Connect the 10 AWG or larger wire from the solenoid to the positive
(+) terminal of the vehicle battery.
c. Reconnect the vehicle battery ground wire.
4. Connect to external
battery (not included)
a. Connect the 10 AWG or larger wire from the solenoid to the positive
(+) terminal of a deep cycle 12-volt external battery.
b. Ground the external battery to the sprayer frame using 10 AWG or
larger wire.
NOTE: The Honda engine is not equipped with an alternator to charge the
external battery. The external battery will need to be recharged periodically.
