Above Ground Tank Installation Instructions
NORWESCO above-ground tanks should NOT be installed underground.
Always be sure to check your local codes relative to above ground tank installations.
Home Depot tanks: 3000 gallon; 2500 gallon; 550 gallon
Installation instructions for above ground use are straight-forward:
• Ensure the ground where the tank is to be located is flat and level
• Remove all rocks over ½” in diameter
• Place a 3-4” layer of sand or pea gravel over the foundation area.
• Use a straight 2 x 4 board with a level to check the entire surface area.
• Place the tank on the surface taking care it does not dig into the sand or pea gravel to remain
level.
o This is best completed with at least 2 people.
• Install outlet fittings per manufacturer’s instructions.
• If constructing a concrete foundation, be sure it is constructed to withstand the weight of a
completely full tank. A 3000 gallon tank, for instance, will weigh in excess of 25,000
pounds when full of water.
