Use & Care Guide

o To restore gloss level or deep clean heavily soiled floors, use a scrub and recoat
procedure.
o Sweep and thoroughly clean the floor using a general purpose cleaner and a buffing
machine or auto scrubber with a green or blue pad.
o DO NOT USE BLACK OR BROWN PADS! Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
o Apply 1 or 2 coats of high quality acrylic floor finish according to label instructions. Be
sure to allow the proper drying time between coats.
STRIP AND RECOAT
o To completely remove all floor finish and apply a new coating, use a stripping procedure.
o Consult with the manufacturer of the floor finish that was applied for the recommended
stripper to remove the finish from a Solid Vinyl Tile Floor.
o Follow the label instructions and use a blue pad to strip the floor.
o DO NOT USE BLACK OR BROWN PADS!
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENENCE
o Use mats at all entry areas to keep dirt, sand and water off of the floor. Clean the mats
on a regular basis. If mats are placed directly on top of the Novalis floor, be sure the
mats have a non-staining back.
o Furniture shall have protective glides of at least 1” in diameter to minimize the chance of
indentations or scratching to the surface of the floor. Do not use narrow chair glides! Felt
pads are also excellent protection for the floor for furniture that will be frequently moved
directly across the floor.
o Do not move heavy furniture, appliances or fixtures directly across the floor. Use
protective boards.
o Protect the floor from direct sunlight by using appropriate window coverings.
o Use chair mats at desks to protect the floor from damage due to chair legs or casters.
