Guidelines for Installing NLS
 Prepare the network.
If you are upgrading a server, the server should have a read/write replica
of the partition where the NetWare
®
6 server will be installed.
 Provide fault tolerance.
Two servers running NLS in a partition provide fault tolerance. If one
server goes down, the other provides required licensing services.
We recommend that the master replica be on one of these servers.
 Upgrade existing NLS.
Before installing NetWare 6, ensure that your servers have the following
Support Packs installed.
NetWare Version Support Pack
NetWare 4 NetWare 4 Support Pack 6a or later
NetWare 5.0 NetWare 5.0 Support Pack 4 or later
NetWare 5.1 NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 2 or later
