Asyoureadaloud,passagesthathavebeenrecognizedwillturngreen.If passages
turnred,tryagainorclick“SkipWord”.Whenyourststarttotrainaprole,
youwillneedtoreadquiteslowly,inveryshortdistinctphrases(butsmoothlyand
naturally),waitingeachtimeforthedisplayof greentexttocatchupwithyou.Af-
terthreeorfourpagesof text,however,youwillbeabletoreadataconsiderably
morenormalspeedandinlargerphrases.
Whenyou’vereachedtheendof thestory,orwhenMacSpeechDictatehasheard
enough,thewindowwillchangetoindicatethatyourtrainingisbeingprocessed
intothevoicemodel.
Youmusttrainthevoicemodelwithatleastonestorypriortousinganewprole.
Afterthat,furthertrainingisoptional.Readingadditionalstories(therearethree
of them)mightimproveMacSpeechDictate’saccuracyinrecognizingwhatyou
say,butinmanycasestherecognitionenginewillprovetoberemarkablyaccurate
afteryouhavereadjustonestory.

TheVocabularyTrainingwindowiswhereyouprovideMacSpeechDictatewith
writtentextsothatitcanlearn unknown words.Learnedwordsareaddedto
MacSpeechDictate’srecognitionvocabularyforyourprole,soyoucanusethem
whiledictating.
