Creating a Voice Prole
Avoice proleisacompletesetof dataonhowyouspeak:whatyourvoicesounds
like,andwhatvocabularyyouuse.InordertospeakintoMacSpeechDictate,you
musthaveatleastoneprole.
Inmanycases,oneproleisallyou’llneed.Butyou’llneedmultipleprolesin
certainsituations:
• If differentpeopleareusingMacSpeechDictate,eachwillneedtheirown
prole.
• If youuseMacSpeechDictatewithdifferentmicrophones,you’llneedapro-
leforeachmicrophone.
Everyprolehasaname,whichuniquelyidentiesit.Whenyoucreateaprole,
youstartbygivingitaname.
note.Thedataforaprolelivesonyourharddiskasapackagewhosele
extensionis.dictateprole.Youareofferedthechancetosetaprole’slocation
atthetimeyoucreateit.Youmayplaceitanywhereyoulike,butagoodidea
istoputallprolestogetherinaknownlocation;forexample,youmightcre-
ateafolder~/Documents/MacSpeech Proles.Thisallowstheproledatatobe
backedupeasily.Asymboliclinktoeachprolewillbefoundin~/Library/
Application Support/MacSpeech/MacSpeech Proles.
ThersttimeyouuseMacSpeechDictate,youwillbepromptedtocreateanew
prole.
WhenMacSpeechDictatesetsouttocreateaprole,itstartswithaFileSave
dialog(“NameaNewProle”).Givethenewproleaname.Specifyafolderin
whichtokeepthisprole.ClickChoose.
