SETTING UP OAKLEY THUMP TO PLAY MUSIC GETTING STARTED OAKLEY THUMP™ allows you to transfer MP3, WMA and WAV files from your computer and listen to music anywhere. You can also use OAKLEY THUMP to backup important files and transport any kind of file from one computer to another. OAKLEY THUMP combines a digital music player with Oakley’s world-class sunglass technology.
STEP 2: TRANSFER THE MUSIC FILES. If your OAKLEY THUMP is not already attached to your computer, attach it now with the USB cable. In Windows Explorer, OAKLEY THUMP will show up as a removable disk drive. Double-click the disk drive called “OAKLEY THUMP.” This will show songs that come preloaded in the OAKLEY THUMP memory. Open a second folder window that shows the MP3, WMA or WAV music files currently stored on your computer.
SUPPORTED MUSIC FILE FORMATS OAKLEY THUMP supports multiple file formats. MP3 and WMA are more compressed than WAV file formats, so using them will allow you to fit more songs in the internal memory. • MP3 (up to 320 kbps) • MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR) • WMA Note about WMA DRM: If you purchased your music from an online source that provides files formatted with WMA DRM (Windows Media digital rights management), please go to the Oakley Web site at www.oakley.
8 CHARGING THE BATTERY ACCESSORIES Battery life depends on many things, including volume level, external temperature and music file format. Under ideal conditions, the internal lithium battery will provide approximately six hours of continuous playing time. If OAKLEY THUMP hasn’t been used for a while, the battery may need to be recharged. The small indicator light (on the inner side of the right earstem) will blink when the remaining battery power is less than 30%.
TROUBLESHOOTING RESETTING OAKLEY THUMP Most problems can be solved by resetting OAKLEY THUMP: • To reset OAKLEY THUMP, hold down the Play / Pause button and the Previous Song / Rewind button at the same time. Resetting OAKLEY THUMP will not erase the songs or files stored in memory. • If the reset procedure does not work, you may need to restore the internal software. See “Software Restore and Update” below.
SAFETY AND HANDLING WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK WARNING: Using headphones while operating a motor vehicle, motorcycle, watercraft or bicycle may be dangerous, and is illegal in some states. Check your local laws. Use caution while using your Oakley Thump™ when you are engaging in ANY activity that requires your full attention.
