TheWorkflowServiceConsoleletsyoustartandstopthedifferentservices,excepttheConnectserver,
andseetheirlogfiles(seeWorkflowServiceConsole).
NotethatWorkflowisn'tlimitedtoConnectfunctionality.ItwasoriginallydevelopedaspartofthePlan-
etPressSuite.ManyofthepluginsintheWorkflowconfigurationtoolareolderthanConnect.They
wereleftinforcompatibilityreasons,eventhoughtheyaren'tallusefulorusablewithinConnect.
However,theConnectpluginscannotbeusedwiththePlanetPressSuitesoftware.
The Connect server
AsopposedtotheWorkflowserver,theConnectserverwasdesignedtobeusedonlywithConnect.
TheConnectserverperformsseveraldifferenttasks,allofwhicharerelatedtoConnectcontentand
contentmanagement:
ItcommunicateswiththeWorkflowservice(withtheConnectplugins,specifically)andwiththe
DesignerwhenoutputisgeneratedfromtheDesigner.Itcreatesrecords(byextractingdatafroma
datasourceusingadatamappingconfiguration),andjobs.Itcommunicateswiththeengines(see
below)inordertomakethemcreatecontentitemsandoutput(spool)files.
