Downloadingremotechanges
WhenyouselectProject > Check and apply changesOLConnectretrieveschangedfilesfromthe
remoterepositoryanddownloadsthemtoyourlocalproject.Thisupdatesyourlocalprojectwiththe
mostrecentversionoffilesintheremoterepository.
Youcanalsocheckforremotechangeswithoutimmediatelydownloadingthechangedfiles:selectPro-
ject > Check remote changesfromthemenubar.
Conflicts
A'conflict'ariseswhenboththeremoteversionandthelocalversionofafilehavebeenchanged.If
thereareconflictingfileswhenyoudownloadremotechanges,youwillbeaskedwhetheryouwantto
overwritethelocalfiles("KeepRemote")ordiscardtheremotechanges("KeepLocal").Beforealocal
fileisoverwritten,abackupofthelocalfileismade.
Preventing conflicts
Ifmultiplepeoplehaveaccesstothefilesinaremoteproject,checkforremotechangesonaregular
basis,tomakesurethatyouworkwiththelatestfiles.Itisimportanttopreventconflictsinfiles,since
thereisnowayortoolyettoresolveconflictsinOLConnectfilesliketemplatesanddatamappingcofig-
urations.
OLConnectautomaticallychecksforremotechangesanddisplaysamessagewhenoneormorefiles
intheremoterepositoryhavechanged.ThesettingMinutes between remote checksdetermineshow
oftenOLConnectwillchecktheremoterepositoryforchangesifacloud-basedversionedprojectis
open.Youcanfindthissettinginthepreferences;fromthemenuatthetop,select:Window > Prefer-
ences > Versioning.
Synchronizationinformationintheprojecthistory
Wheneveryoupublishcommitsto,orpullchangesfromtheonlinerepository,theversioninghistory
panel(Project > Versioning history)isupdatedtoreflectwhetherthelocalandremoteversionsare
insync.
Afullcirclebeforethemessagemeansthelocalandremoteversionsofthatcommitareinsync.
