Theextractionworkflowisalwaysperformedonthecurrentrecordinthedatasource.Whenanerroris
encountered,theextractionworkflowstops,andthedatafieldonwhichtheerroroccurredandalldata
fieldsrelatedtosubsequentstepswillbegreyedout.ClicktheMessagestab(nexttotheStepprop-
ertiespane)toseeanyerrormessages.
Totesttheextractionworkflowonallrecordsthataredisplayed,youcaneither:

ClicktheValidate All Recordstoolbarbutton.

SelectData > Validate Recordsinthemenu.
Ifanyerrorsareencounteredinoneormorerecords,anerrormessagewillbedisplayed.Errors
encounteredwhileperformingtheextractionworkflowonthecurrentrecordwillalsobevisibleonthe
Messagestab.
Note: HowmanyrecordsaredisplayedintheDataViewer(200,bydefault)isspecifiedinthe
RecordlimitontheSettingspane.
Selectingdata
Inordertoextractthedata,itisnecessarytofirstdefinethedatatobeextracted,byselectingit.How
thisisdonedependsonthedatasourcetype.Thefollowingparagraphsexplainhowtocreateand
manipulateadataselectionforeachdifferenttypeofdata.
Dataselectionsareusedtoextractpromotionaldata("Extractingdata"onpage229),transactional
data("Extractingtransactionaldata"onpage235)andtoapplyaconditiontoanextraction(Condition
step).Theycanalsobeusedtocontroltheworkflowthroughconditionsandloops.
Right-clickingonadataselectiondisplaysacontextualmenuwiththeactionsthatcanbeperformed
withthatselectionorthestepsthatcanbeaddedwithit.Thatmenualsodisplaysthekeyboardshort-
cuts.
