Editingfields
Thelistoffieldsthatareincludedintheextraction,theorderinwhichfieldsareextractedandthedata
formatofeachfield,areallpartoftheExtractstep'sproperties.ThesecanbeeditedviatheStepprop-
ertiespane(see"Extractstepproperties"onpage326).
Tip: Tochangethenameofafieldquickly,right-clickitintheDataModelandselectRename.
Renaming and reordering fields in an extraction step
Thenamesoffields,aswellastheorderoffieldsinanextractionstep,canbechangedviatheprop-
ertiesoftheExtractstepthattheybelongto.
1. SelecttheExtractstepthatcontainsthefieldsthatyouwanttorename.Todothisyoucouldclick
ononeofthosefieldsintheDataModel,oronthestepintheStepspane.
2. OntheSteppropertiespane,underFieldDefinition,clicktheOrder and rename fieldsbutton.
3. Nowyoucanrenameandorderthefields;see"Orderandrenamefieldsdialog"onpage332.
Aboutfieldnames:

Fieldscannothavethesamename,unlesstheyarelocatedonadifferentlevelinthe
record(e.g.rootlevel,detailtable).

Itisrecommendedthatyoudo not use spacesinfieldnames.
Whenadatafieldisdraggedintoatemplate,thedatafieldnameisusedintheselectorof
thescriptthatiscreated,butanyspaceswillberemoved.
Also,datafieldsmaybeusedasMetadatainaWorkflowprocess,andspacesarenotper-
mittedinMetadatafieldnames.
TheorderoffieldsinanextractionstepmaybedifferentfromtheirorderintheDataModel.To
maketheDataModelclearerandmoremanageable,youcanchangetheorderofthefieldsinit
