We hope it provides you with many seasons of enjoyment. These instructions outline the step-by-step process to install an ODL Retractable Screen. Before starting, review all instructions and become familiar with the parts shown on the previous page.
2 Determine Sill Type – For Inswing Doors Only Determine el tipo de solera – Sólo para las puertas de abertura interior IMPORTANT Determine the sill type now since some of the installation steps will vary. This must be done prior to installing screen. 1 Flush Sill Solera al ras 2 Short Sill A short sill stops short of the exterior trim. 2 Flush Sill A flush sill stops flush with the exterior trim.
Short Sill Preparation Preparación de la solera corta NOTE If the short sill sits on top of a step, it is required that a filler strip be added for bottom track to rest on. 1 1 Filler not needed when short sills have ground directly underneath sill plate. 2 FIller needed when short sill sits on top of a step. 3 Cut filler and place under sill lip. 4 Filler must extend out 1” beyond the edge of your exterior trim.
3 Install Pull Handles Instale las manijas TOOLS AND PARTS (2) Pull Handles / Manijas Screen Housing / Montante de la malla (2) 1 3/4” Pan Head Screws / Tornillos de cabeza troncocónica de 1-3/4” 1 Align handles so they angle towards screen fabric. Install using the 1 3/4” pan head screws. Alinee las manijas en ángulo recto con la tela de la malla.
Install Screen Housing Instale el montante de la malla 3/32” Bit / Broca de 3/32” Have a second person assist in holding the housing to ensure proper alignment. 1 On hinge side of door; align housing to exterior trim. 2 If Short/Flush Sill Position so housing is level with bottom of sill face. 5 Measure and Cut Tracks Mida y corte los rieles TOOLS & PARTS File / Lima Hack Saw / Sierra para metales TIP Make sure measurements are accurate before cutting tracks. 1 Measure distance from the inside edge of screen housing to the inside of edge of exterior trim (on opposite side of door). 2 Take measurement from step 1 and Add 1” to it. Example: If step 1 is 34”, your measurement for step 2 will be 35”.
6 Drill Hole in End of Screen Tracks Perfore un orificio en el extremo de los rieles de la malla TIP TOOLS & PARTS 5/32” Bit / Broca de 5/32” Drill / Taladro Measuring Tape / Cinta métrica Lay tracks on a scrap piece of wood. This will make it easier to drill thru both legs. 1 Measure 1/4” from ends of top and bottom tracks. With pencil, make a mark on the scribe line. 2 Drill hole at pencil mark and scribe line using 5/32” drill bit. Be sure to go thru both legs of the track.
7 Measure and Cut Sill Cover Mida y corte la cubierta de la solera TOOLS & PARTS 1 Measure the distance between the inside edge of screen housing to the inside edge of the exterior trim (on opposite side of door). 2 Take measurement from step 1 and Subtract 1” from it. Example: If step 1 is 34” your measurement for step 2 will be 33”.
8 Insert Sill Cover and Install Bottom Track Inserte la cubierta de la solera e instale el riel inferior TOOLS & PARTS TIP Properly aligning bottom track will help ensure screen operates smoothly. (1-3) 1-1/4” Pan Head Screws / (1 a 3) Tornillos de cabeza troncocónica de 1-1/4” 1 Slide sill cover into bottom track. 3/32” Bit / Broca de 3/32” 2 Thread the handle end cap onto the bead on track and sill cover combination. Once threaded, slide track onto housing end cap tab.
9 Install Sill Cover Screws Instale los tornillos de la cubierta de la solera TOOLS & PARTS (6) 3/4” Flat Head Screws / (6) Tornillos de cabeza plana de 3/4” 3/32” Bit / Broca de 3/32” Drill / Taladro Phillips Screwdriver / Destornillador Phillips (6) Washers / (6) Arandelas TIP Do not over tighten sill cover screws. It could cause binding of the screen. 1 Center sill cover on sill 2 Pre-drill holes using the 3/32” bit. 3 Install cover with washers and screw driver.
10 Install Top Track Instale el riel superior TOOLS & PARTS (2) 1-1/4” Pan Head Screws / (2) Tornillos de cabeza troncocónica 1 -1/4” TIP Do not over tighten track screws. It could cause binding of the screen. 1 Take top track and thread the handle end cap onto the bead on top track. Once threaded, slide the track onto housing end cap tab. 2 Locate top track position • Pull screen handle towards end of track and hold. This will locate top track position.
11 Single Door Magnetic Catch Pestillo magnético de la puerta simple TOOLS & PARTS 1 Strike Plate • Place strike plate on strike plate mount. (2) 1” Painted Flat Head Screws / (2) Tornillos de cabeza plana de 1” pintados • Align strike plate so 2 notches in plate are facing out. Later if more magnetic attraction force is need, simply flip plate over. (1) 1” Mill Finish Flat Head / (1) Tornillo Phillips de cabeza plana de 1” • Install with 1” mill finished flat head screw.
Operation and Maintenance Funcionamiento y mantenimiento Loosen Tight Screws Afloje los tornillos ajustados Lubricate Lubrique Operation – Binding If screen binds during retraction, try the following: • Track screws could be too tight. Try loosening a bit. • Add a lubricant such as silicon spray. • Make sure top track is installed per step 10. Maintenance • Check for loose screws. • Clean out tracks with a vacuum. • Lightly lubricate tracks with silicon spray. • Fully retract screens during freezing.

3 Install Slide Bolts Instale los pernos deslizantes TOOLS & PARTS (2) Slide Bolt Kits / (2) Juegos de pernos deslizantes (2) Screen Housings / (2) Montantes de las mallas Drill / Taladro 1 Measure and mark the center point of doorframe at the top and bottom. 2 Install two (2) slide bolts on one of the retractable screen units. This will act as the fixed screen. 3 Slide bolts lock one of the screens in place. This screen will cover the fixed door and acts as the latch point for the second screen.
4 Install Pull Handles Instale las manijas TOOLS & PARTS (4) Pull Handles / (4) Manijas (2) Screen Housings / (2) Montantes de las mallas (8) 1 3/4” Pan Head Screws / (8) Tornillos de cabeza troncocónica 1-3/4” 1 Align pull handles so they angle towards screen fabric. File / Lima Hack Saw / Sierra para metales Pencil / Lápiz 1 Measure the distance from the inside edge of your screen housing to the to the center point you marked in step 5. 2 Take step 1 measurement and measure along tracks to locate the cut line. Mark cut-line with a pencil and square. 3 Cut tracks along cut-line with hack saw. File any sharp edge smooth if necessary.

This will make it easier to drill thru both legs. 5/32” Bit / Broca de 5/32” Drill / Taladro Measuring Tape / Cinta métrica 1 Measure 1/4” from ends of top and bottom tracks. With pencil, make a mark on the scribe line. 2 Drill hole thru pencil mark using 5/32” drill bit. Be sure to go thru both legs of the track.

(6) Washers / (6) Arandelas 3 Install cover with washers and screw driver.
12 Install Top Tracks Instale los rieles superiores TIP TOOLS & PARTS (4) 1-1/4” Pan Head Screws / (4) Tornillos de cabeza troncocónica 1-1/4” 3/32” Bit / Broca de 3/32” Do not over tighten track screws. It could cause binding of the screen. 1 Take top track and thread the handle end cap onto the bead on top track. Once threaded, slide the track onto housing end cap tab. 2 Locate top track position • Pull screen handle towards end of track and hold. This will locate top track position.
13 Double Door Magnetic Catch & Slide Bolt Holes Orificios de los pernos deslizantes y pestillo magnético de la puerta doble TOOLS & PARTS 1 (1) 3/8” Flat Head Screws / (1) Tornillos de cabeza plana de 3/8” Remove the screw and cover from one of the magnetic catches and remove magnet. Then replace cover and screw. 2 (4) 1” Painted Finish Flat Head Screws / (4) Tornillos de cabeza plana de 1” pintados Attach strike plate to this catch with 2 notches facing out.
