3. Troubleshooting
Network Connection Problems
Common to Windows and Mac OS X
Cause Remedy Reference
Using a crossover cable. Use a straight cable. -
The printer is turned on before a cable
was connected.
Connect cables before turning on the printer. page 32
The hub and the printer are incompatible
or have some problem.
Press the scroll button or and select [Admin Setup] >
[Network Setup] > [HUB Link Setting], and then select
[10Base-T Half].

Not connected to the wireless LAN access
point.
● When the device is connected to the wireless LAN
(Infrastructure mode), disable the wireless LAN (AP
mode).
● Check that the power switch of the wireless LAN
access point is turned on.
● Check settings of the wireless LAN access point, and
then perform manual setting or automatic setting.
● Restart the wireless LAN function.
● Select [Wireless Reconnection] from [Wireless
(Infrastructure) Setting].
● Put the device in an unobstructed view position near
the wireless LAN access point. (The recommended
distance is 30 m or less)
● If there is a wall, a metal item or a radio wave
generating device between this device and the
wireless LAN access point, communication failure may
occur.

IP address is incorrect. ● Check that the same IP address is set for the printer
and the printer's port setting on the computer.
● If using LPR Utility, check the IP address setting in
LPR Utility.

USB Connection Problems

Cause Remedy Reference
Unsupported USB cable is being used. Use a USB 2.0 cable. -
A USB hub is being used. Connect the printer directly to the computer. page 42
Printer driver is not installed correctly. Reinstall printer driver. page 43,

For Windows
Cause Remedy Reference
The printer is off line. Right-click the [OKI C833 *] icon on the [Devices and
Printers] folder, and then select [See print jobs] (If
the icons are grouped, select [See print jobs] > [OKI
C833 *]).
* Indicates the driver type. (ex. PCL6/PS/XPS)
In the dialog box, select the [Printer] menu and then
clear the check of [Use Printer Ofine].

A switch, buffer, extension cable or USB
hub is being used.
Connect the printer directly to the computer. page 42
A driver for a different printer that uses a
USB connection has been installed.
Delete the other printer driver from the computer. -
