For reasons of your own personal safety, handle it with the same care and attention given to all electrical equipment! For reasons of safety, read the following regulations and instructions and observe the information contained: 1. Unplug the HomePlug 2000E Power from the power outlet before cleaning it. Never use liquid cleaning agents or aerosol cleaners.

Operating Instructions Introduction The HomePlug 2000E Power uses the power cables already laid inside buildings to transmit signals in order to provide a reliable network of computers and related network equipment. Using a maximum transmission speed of 200 Mbps, the HomePlug 2000E Power can communicate sophisticated applications, such as internet telephony, high resolution video applications and internet, reliably and simultaneously.
Operating Instructions Installation and Connection System requirements The HomePlug 2000E Power can be used with all operating systems which support TCP/IP. Drivers are not required for the HomePlug 2000E Power. However, the configuration utility and network password supplied can only be installed on Windows operating systems. Your computer must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be able to install the utility software under Windows.
Operating Instructions Connection and control lamps The HomePlug 2000E Power is equipped with three control lamps, an Ethernet connection port and a Simple Connect button. Operating Instructions Important Information Network capacity A maximum of 15 HomePlug 2000E Power units can be installed in a single−family house. Network security Normally, an electricity meter forms a physical boundary, i.e. only devices connected to a particular electric meter can be part of a network and benefit from the phase coupling. However, we recommend setting up a private network by assigning a new network name.
Operating Instructions Configuration Utility for Windows The configuration utility described below relates to installation on a computer using the Windows Vista operating system. The procedure is the same for all other approved operating systems. Starting the program 1. Double−click on the HomePlug AV Utility icon on the desktop. Home tab The Home tab basically displays a list of various configuration options provided by the software.
Operating Instructions Private Network Name tab The Private Network Name tab serves to assign private network names for local and remote HomePlugs. A private network name can be 8 − 64 characters long and enables the HomePlugs to communicate with each other. 1. Enter a random network name in the Private Network Name to be set input field. 2. Click the [Apply] button to assign the private network name to the local HomePlug.
Operating Instructions Quality of Service tab The Quality of Service tab serves to define the intended use of the device connected to the HomePlug. There are three options available for selection: Online Game / Internet 1. Select this option if you intend to connect a computer or game console to the HomePlug. Audio or Video 1. Select this option if you intend to operate an Internet television (IPTV) or Audio/Video streaming via the HomePlug. Voice over IP 1.
Operating Instructions Devices tab The Devices tab provides system information on all the HomePlugs detected. The following information is displayed: S TEI: Indicates the HomePlug identification in the HomePlug AV network for unique internal assignment. S Device MAC Address: Indicates the MAC address of the HomePlug. S Bridge MAC Address: Indicates the MAC address of the network device connected to the HomePlug. S Connection Rate: Indicates the transmit and receive transmission rates of the HomePlug.
Operating Instructions Firmware Upgrade tab The Firmware Upgrade tab provides the opportunity of loading a new firmware on the HomePlug. The new firmware versions are available for downloading from the manufacturer’s internet site. A configuration file (file extension .pib) and actual firmware file (file extension .nvm) are required. Click on the [Upgrade] button and then the [Browse] button. Enter the path for the two files. The upgrade routine is started.
