Safety instructions 1 Safety instructions 1. Please read all the instructions in this manual prior to commissioning the product. 2. Adhere to all instructions displayed on the product. 3. Install the product on a solid base and make sure no-one can trip over the telephone cable. 4. Do not fasten the AC-cable to the mounting base with metal devices. 5. This product should only be operated from a power source indicated on the product.

Do not touch the insulated telephone wires or -terminals, unless the connections of telephone cables and power supply lines were disconnected beforehand. 16. Connection and commissioning 2 Connection and commissioning 1. Connect the telephone cable to the TAE-female connectors, the one end to the wall and the other to the base station (see fig. 2-1). 2. Connect the base station to the mains by plugging the AC-adapter into the base station's power socket (see fig. 2-1). The base station's power-LED lights up. Connection and commissioning NOTE: If the handset's batteries are entirely empty, the base station will do a quick reload for a couple of hours and then change to the slow loading process. The handset will warm up during quick loading. This warming is normal and in no way dangerous. The handset will cool down slowly once the batteries are almost fully charged. 5. On delivery, the base station is already registered with the base station.
Basic functions 3 Basic functions 3.1 Setting date and time It is necessary that you set time and date for the caller display. 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby. 2. Select [SYSTEM] with the / -keys. Confirm your selection by pressing the -key. The LCD will display [CHANGE PIN?]. Select [SET TIME] with the / -keys and confirm the selection by pressing the -key. SYSTEM OK SET TIME OK HH:MM _0:00 YY _0 The LCD will display the setting for hours and minutes [HH:MM _0:00]. 3.
Basic functions 3.2 Changing the handset name MOBILE 1 HANDSET NAME The default handset name is "MOBILE". The LCD will display [MOBILE n], in which N=1...6 represents the handset number during registration. 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby. Operate the / -keys to select [HANDSET NAME]. 2. Operate the -key to confirm your selection. The LCD will display [MOBILE_ ]. 3. Operate the -key to move the cursor to the left.
Basic functions Explanatory notes: 1. Operating the [1]-key inserts a space at the cursor position. Immediate repeated operation of the [1]-key inserts a „-“ at the cursor position, a third operation inserts a forward slash „/“. (Operation is carried out cyclically). 2. Follow the table above to enter the handset name. A maximum of ten chars is designated for the handset name. 3. If no key is operated for longer than two seconds, the cursor automatically moves to the next position. 4.
Basic functions 3.4 Setting melody and volume MELODY The default setting is MEL 1: HIGH 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby. Operate the / -keys to select [MELODY]. 2. Confirm your selection by operating the -key, the LCD will display [MEL 1]. Ring tone melody no.1 can be heard. Select the other melodies with the / -keys. There are 3 melodies overall: MEL 1, MEL 2 and MEL 3. Once you selected a melody, operate the -key. 3.
Basic functions 3.6 Setting the key beep The default setting is BEEP ON. KEY BEEP BEEP ON? 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby. Operate the / -keys to select the [KEY BEEP]. 2. Confirm your selection by operating the -key. The LCD will display [BEEP ON?]. Use the / -keys to select BEEP ON? and BEEP OFF? Operate the -key, to confirm your selection and to exit the mode. Basic functions 3.8 Manual dialling (without display on the LCD) If the telephone number is comprised of more than 20 digits, operate the -key and enter the number to make the call. 3.9 Saving the last 10 numbers dialled 1234567890 01/10 1. Operate the / -keys in standby mode to display the last 10 numbers dialled. The number dialled last is filed in the first calling-number memory. If that number is identical with a number filed in the phone book, the name of the respective subscriber is displayed.
Basic functions 3.11 Recall (call waiting) The recall procedure can only be applied if you have your phone company's clearing for it. If someone calls you while you are in a talk already and you hear the 'call waiting'-tone, operate the -key to accept the second call. The first talk is held in the meantime. Operate the -key again to hold the second call and continue the conversation with the first subscriber. 3.
Basic functions 3.14 Warning: Battery low The battery symbol displays the battery charge level: Battery high Battery low When the battery charge level is low, you will hear a beep every 2 seconds throughout your call. When the battery charge level is low, place the handset into the base unit to re-charge the batteries. The battery symbol starts to indicate. 3.15 Out of range OUT OF RANGE If the handset is out of range, the LCD will display [OUT OF RANGE] and the antenna symbol l starts to indicate.
Basic functions 3.16 Memory The last 10 numbers dialled, the phone book and the list of callers are maintained, even if the batteries are completely discharged or removed from the handset. 3.17 BABY CALL This function has been designed with small children (or the elderly) in mind, to enable them to make an emergency call by pressing a single key only. BABY CALL CALL: OFF? The default setting is BABYCALL OFF. (a) Setting the baby call 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby.
Basic functions <> 4. Repeat steps 1 and 2, and select [CALL: ON?] this time. Operate the -key to confirm your selection. The LCD will display [<>] the entire time. OK When the function is enabled you dial only the baby call number by operating a random key in standby mode (with the exception of the - and the -key). Phone book 4 Phone book There are 20 memory locations for the phone book. You can enter a name (max. 10 digits) and a phone number (max. 20 digits) per memory location. The three basic funtions are: ADD ENTRY, EDIT/DELETE, SEARCH. 4.1 ADD ENTRY PHONE BOOK SEARCH ADD ENTRY NAME? NUMBER? 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby. Operate the / -key to select [PHONE BOOK]. 2. Confirm your selection by operating the -key, the LCD will display [SEARCH].
Phone book Note: The counter in the LCD's bottom left hand corner displays the memory location (e.g. 01/20). if more than 20 entries were added, the LCD will show [ICM FULL] an. Explanatory note: The entries are ordered alphabetically in descending order, followed by the numbers (if no name was entered alongside these numbers). 4.2 EDIT entry Changing a saved name or number in the phone book: PHONE BOOK SEARCH EDIT Version no. 12-03E 1. Operate the -key to access the menu mode during standby.
Phone book 5. Use table 3-1 on page 9 to enter the new name (max. 10 chars). Press to confirm and proceed to edit the number. 6. Operate the -key to delete the old number and enter the new one. The LCD will display [EDIT ]. 7. If you do not need to make further changes, operate the OK -key to leave this menu item. OK EDIT 4.3 DELETE entry 1. Follow the previous chapter (EDIT) from step 1) to 3) to select the entry which is to be deleted. 2. Operate the -key. The LCD will display [DELETE?]. 3.
Phone book When the name is displayed in the LCD, operate the -key to have the number displayed. If the number contains more than 12 digits, press the -key again to show the remaining digits. If you do not wish to make a phone call, operate the -key to quit the mode. OK OK Version no.
CALLER DISPLAY 5 CALLER DISPLAY The telephone is equipped with a function called "Caller Display", by means of which you can read the caller's number on the display prior to accepting the talk. To be able to use this function, you need your telephone company's clearing. Please observe that this function may vary with different service providers and not all of the functions described in the following chapter may apply to your area. 5.

CALLER DISPLAY 5.3 Viewing the caller list 1. Operate the -key during standby mode. The LCD will display [NEWXXTOTALXX]. NEW displays the number of unchecked incoming calls. TOTAL displays the overall number of calls on the caller list. 2. Operate the / -keys to view the caller list entries. 3. Operate the -key to finish. OK Explanatory notes: 1. When a new, unchecked call is on the list, the -symbol indicates.

Further functions 6 Further functions 6.1 Changing the base station PIN The PIN (Personal Identification Number or Personal Security Code) is a 4-digit code to protect the base station against illicit registration or -access. The default setting is SYSTEM -key to access the menu mode during / -key to select [SYSTEM]. CHANGE PIN 2. Confirm your selection by operating the display [CHANGE PIN]. BS PIN ---- 3. Confirm your selection by pressing the display [BS PIN ---- ]. NEW ---- 4.
Further functions 6.2 Setting a prefix code The default setting is PREFIX OFF. If you select "calling with prefix code", a prefix code is inserted in front of every dialled number (including the numbers saved). To confirm your entry and to leave the menu item, operate the OK -key. 6.3 Barring numbers The default setting is BARRING OFF. Barring numbers serves to forbid dialling certain numbers, when their 1st to 4th digit agrees with barred numer 1 or barred number 2. SYSTEM BAR NUMBER BS PIN ---BARRING OFF? 28 1. Enter the first 1-4-digit number to be barred. Operate the -key to confirm your entry and to exit the system menu. Accessory functions 7 Accessory functions This product is GAP-compatible. It provides the following accessory functions: • you can register up to 6 handsets at every base station • each handset can be registered at up to 4 base stations • transfer: internal talks / handing over external talks / teleconference between several handsets Explanatory note: Registering handsets/base stations at other DECT-telephones is possible provided that they are GAP-compatible. 7.
Accessory functions BASE: 1 2 3 4 BS PIN ---- 3. Confirm your selection by pressing the OK -key. The LCD will display [BASE:1 2 3 4]. With handsets not registered, all 4 digits indicate. The handset is already registered at the base station, if the digits do not indicate. 4. Operate key [1], to select base station 1. The LCD will display [BS PIN ----]. (Note: If base station 1 is already registered, the original registration will be overwritten by the new one.) 5. Enter the base station's 4-digit pin.
Accessory functions HS 123456 HS: _2_456 6. The handset will now search for a base station that is ready for registration. Once the base station has been localised, the LCD will display [HS 123456], in which HS stands for handset. OR If one or more handsets are already registered at the base station, e.g. handset 1 and handset 3, the LCD will display [HS:_2_456]. 7. Operate the desired dial button to save the handset number. The handset will switch to standby mode. 7.
Accessory functions HS: 12_ _ _ _ UNREGISTER 5. Enter the base station's 4-digit pin. The default PIN is . If the PIN was entered correctly, the number of the registered handset(s) will be displayed. If, for example, handset 1 and handset 2 are registered, the LCD will display [HS: 12_ _ _ _]. 6. Enter the handset number to sign off the handset. The LCD of the handset signed off will display: [UNREGISTER]. Handset(s) and base station now switch to standby mode. 7.
Accessory functions AUTO 12 _ _ AUTO 12 2. Confirm by operating the -key, the LCD will display [AUTO 1 2 3 4]. If only 2 base stations are registered, the LCD will display [AUTO 1 2 _ _]. The current selection is constantly displayed while the others indicate. 3. Operate the desired dial button to select a specific base station and operate the -key to select AUTO. The selected setting is constantly displayed while the others indicate.
Accessory functions 2. Confirm your selection by operating the -key, the LCD will display [HS: *], in which HS stands for handset and the "*" shows there is no set priority. Operate the dial button (1-6) to select the desired handset. Operate [1], for example, to define that handset 1 is to ring first. 3. Press OK to confirm and to return to standby mode. OK HS: 1 Note: • If the selected handset number was not yet registered, a warning tone is emitted. • The selected handset will ring first.
Accessory functions 7.5 Internal talks (transfer) CALL WHAT? CALL 2 CALL FROM1 36 If 2 or more handsets are registered at one base station, the handsets can be used as walkie-talkies within the operating range. 1. Operate the -key in standby mode. The connection symbol is displayed and [CALL WHAT?] appears on the LCD. 2. Key in the handset number (e.g. handset 2) you wish to call. In case handset 1 calls handset 2, the LCD of handset 1 will display [CALL 2].
Accessory functions 7.6 Handing over external talks CALL WHAT CALL 2 CALL FROM1 Version no. 12-03E If a current call is accepted on handset 1, the talk can be handed over to another handset within the base station's operating range. In case a talk is to be handed over from handset 1 to handset 2: 1. Operate the -key at handset 1 during the talk so as to hand over the phone call. The connection is maintained. Enter handset number [2] and operate the over the call. -key to hand 2.
Accessory functions 7.7 Teleconference If handset 1 is engaged in a talk, it is possible to establish a teleconference with another handset within reach of the base station. CALL WHAT? CALL 2 CALL FROM1 38 1. Operate the -key at handset 1 during the talk so as to enable the teleconference. Meanwhile, the connection is maintained. The LCD will display [CALL WHAT?]. 2. Enter the number of the handset with which you wish to establish a teleconference. In this example, operate key [2]. 3.
Notes on battery usage 8 Notes on battery usage 1. Never use batteries which are not rechargeable. Only use certified (rechargeable) batteries of the same kind, since they may be damaged otherwise. This product requires AAA-type rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries with 1,2V and 550-800mAh. 2. Do not re-charge the batteries in a charging set not designated for this product. 3.

Problems and solutions 10 Problems and solutions 1. No dial tone • Check whether mains adaptor and telephone cable are correctly connected. • The batteries might be entirely discharged. Re-charge the batteries for about 10 hours. • Move the handset closer to the base station. 2. Beep tone • Move the handset closer to the base station, if the beep tone is caused by a handset which is out of range. • Re-chage the batteries, if the beep tone might be an indication of a low charging status.
