How to Attach a Flag with Grommets to a Flagpole

House mount flagpoles: Use flag rings or cable ties.

Flag ring – Slide ring onto flagpole. Align grommet over hole in flag ring and thread

screw and tighten to secure flag to ring.

Cable tie – Place a cable tie through the grommet and tighten to secure around

flagpole.

In-ground flagpoles: Use nylon or metal flag clips depending on the size of the flag. 4’ x

6’ and larger flags will typically use the heavier metal spring clip.

New installations: On the halyard (rope), measure the distance between the grommets

on your flag and mark with marking pen. You will put the flag clips at the same distance

apart.

Replacement installations: Check the rope thoroughly for any fraying before putting new clips on the halyard. Lower the flag and put the flag clips on the halyard to match the grommets of the flag you will be flying.
