Using the Menu Use the menu to change camera settings such as the shooting mode. There may be menus that are unavailable depending on other related settings or the s mode (p. 29). Preparing the Camera Inserting the battery 1 3 1 Battery/card/connector cover 3 2 2 3 1 Battery/card/ connector cover lock LOCK knob 2 When removing the battery or card, be sure to turn off the camera before opening or closing the battery/ card/connector cover. When using the camera, firmly close the battery/card/ connector cover lock and LOCK knob. Slide the battery lock knob in the direction of the arrow to unlock, and then remove the battery.
We recommend that you use a computer equipped with Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or later), Windows Vista, or Windows 7. See “Charging the battery with the included USB-AC adapter” (p. 17) if you are using a different computer or wish to charge the battery without using a computer. 2 If nothing is displayed on the camera screen even after connecting the camera to the computer, the battery may be exhausted.

To play sound recordings To play sound recorded with an image, select the image and press the A button. A ! icon appears on images with which sound has been recorded. Pausing and restarting playback Press the A button to pause playback. During pause, fast forward or reverse, press the A button to restart playback. Fast forward Press I to fast forward. Press I again to increase the fast forward speed. Rewind Press H to rewind. The speed at which the recording rewinds increases each time H is pressed.

Using Shooting Modes To change the shooting mode The shooting mode (P, M, s, P, p, W) can be changed using the function menu. “Using the Menu” (p. 5) The default settings of the function are highlighted in . Using the best mode for the shooting scene (s mode) 1 Set the shooting mode to s. Scene Mode Shooting with automatic settings (M mode) The camera will automatically select the optimal shooting mode for the scene.
In s modes, the optimum shooting settings are pre-programmed for specific shooting scenes. For this reason, settings may not be changed in some modes. To cancel, press the A button again to clear the AF lock mark.

When set to [Auto] or [Manual], [Image Size] (p. 40) is fixed to [2]. To exit the panorama function without saving an image, press the m button. The focus, exposure, zoom position (p. 22), and white balance (p. 37) are locked at the first frame. If the shutter does not automatically release, try [Manual] or [PC]. The flash (p. 35) is fixed to $ (Flash Off) mode. Taking pictures with [Manual] Taking pictures with [Auto] 1 Press the shutter button to take the first frame.
4 Press the shutter button to take the next shot. To combine only two pictures, press the A button before taking the third frame. 5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 to take a third frame. ● After the third frame is taken, the camera automatically processes the frames and the combined panorama image is displayed. To exit the panorama function without saving an image, press the m button. 3 Repeat Step 2 until the number of desired frames is taken, and then press the A button or m button when finished.
Depending on the subject or the situation (if the distance between the camera and subject is too short), the image may not look 3D. The 3D viewing angle varies depending on the subject, etc. Taking pictures with [Auto] 1 Press the shutter button to shoot the first frame. 2 Overlap the subject with the image that is faintly displayed in the monitor. ● The picture is taken automatically. Taking pictures with [Manual] 1 Press the shutter button to shoot the first frame.
Using Shooting Functions “Using the Menu” (p. 5) [Remote Control] and [Slave] are not displayed when [Remote Flash] (p. 44) is set to [Off]. Using the flash Shooting closeups (Macro shooting) The flash functions can be selected to best match the shooting conditions. 1 This function enables the camera to focus and shoot subjects at close distances. Sequential shooting (Drive) Using the LED illuminator Pictures are taken sequentially while the shutter button is held down. In a dark location, the LED illuminator can be used as an auxiliary light to see things or compose shots. 1 1 2 Select the drive option in the shooting function menu. Shooting at higher magnifications than optical zoom [Digital Zoom] There may be a noise coming from inside the camera when the shutter button is pressed with [Image Stabilizer] (still images) set to [On]. Using an external flash [Remote Flash] J (Shooting menu 2) X Remote Flash Submenu 2 The external flash is not available. #RC An Olympus Wireless RC Flash System compatible flash is used for taking pictures. (Channel: CH1, Group: A) Slave The commercially-available slave flash that is synchronized with the camera flash is used for taking pictures. The flash intensity setting can be adjusted.

Submenu 3 All Clear Skin Sparkle Eye Dramatic Eye Submenu 4 Application [Clear Skin], [Sparkle Eye] and [Dramatic Eye] are applied together. Makes skin look smooth and translucent. Select Soft/Avg/Hard the correction effect from 3 levels. Enhances the contrast ― of the eyes. Enlarges the subject’s ― eyes. ― 1 Use FG to select a correction item, and press the A button. 2 Use HI to select an image for retouching, and press the A button.

Erasing images [Erase] To erase all images [All Erase] 1 Use FG to select [All Erase], and press the A button. 2 Use FG to select [Yes], and press the A button. q (Playback menu) X Erase Submenu 2 All Erase Sel. Image Erase Application All images in the internal memory or card will be erased. Images are individually selected and erased. Deletes the image displayed. Before erasing pictures from a memory card, insert the card into the camera.

To play back camera images on a TV ● Connection via AV cable 1 Use the camera to select the same video signal system as the one of connected TV ([NTSC]/[PAL]). 2 Connect the TV and camera. Multi-connector Connect to the TV video input jack (yellow) and audio input jack (white). AV cable (supplied) Open the battery/card/connector cover in the direction of the arrow.

Type C Type D (CB-HD1) 3 Turn on the TV, and change “INPUT” to “VIDEO (an input jack connected to the camera).” For details on changing the input source of the TV, refer to the TV’s instruction manual. 4 Turn on the camera, and use HI to select the image for playback. Operating during playback mode When switched to playback mode by tapping the top of the camera body twice, the operations below can be used. Display next image: Tap the right side of the camera once. Display previous image: Tap the left side of the camera once. Fast forward and reverse: Tilt the camera to the right or the left. Return to the shooting mode: Tap the top side of the camera twice.

Recording the shooting location and time information on the images shot [GPS Settings] (TG-810 only) t (Settings 3) X GPS Settings GPS (Global Positioning System) is a system that locates current positions (latitude and longitude) by receiving signals from satellites. This camera ties in the location information with data and map data, and makes it possible to record the shooting direction and landmark information on the images.
Printing Direct printing (PictBridge*1) I (right) By connecting the camera to a PictBridge-compatible printer, you can print images directly without using a computer. To find out if your printer supports PictBridge, refer to the printer’s instruction manual. *1 PictBridge is a standard for connecting digital cameras and printers of different makers and printing out pictures directly.
Changing the printer’s settings for printing [Custom Print] 1 2 3 Submenu 4 Use FG to select the print mode, and press the A button. Submenu 2 This prints the image selected in Step 6. All Print This prints all images stored in the internal memory or card. Multi Print This prints one image in a multiple layout format. All Index This prints an index of all images stored in the internal memory or card. Print Order*1 This prints images based on the print reservation data on the card.
To crop an image [P [P] Print Mode Select 1 Use the zoom buttons to select the size of the cropping frame, use FGHI to move the frame, and then press the A button. Appendix Camera care Battery and USB-AC adapter Exterior • Wipe gently with a soft cloth. If the camera is very dirty, soak the cloth in mild soapy water and wring well. Wipe the camera with the damp cloth and then dry it with a dry cloth. If you have used the camera at the beach, use a cloth soaked in clean water and wrung well. • If any dirt, dust, sand, or other foreign materials adhere to the camera after use, wash the camera using the method described on p. 73.
• For plug-in type USB-AC adapter: The included USB-AC adapter (F-2AC) is intended to be correctly orientated in a vertical or floor mount position. Charging the battery by connecting the camera to a computer The battery can be charged by connecting the camera to a computer.
