WHEN TO CHANGE THE CARTRIDGE
Thelifeofthecartridgedependsonthewatervolumeusedand
thesubstancesinthewater.Normallythecartridgeshouldbe
changedatintervalsofsixtotwelvemonthsorless.Replacethe
cartridgesoonerifthewaterpressureatthefaucetbeginsto
dropnoticeablyorifyounoticechangesinthetaste,color,or
owofthelteredwater.
NOTE:Certaintypesofharmlessbacteriawillattackcellulose
material.Cartridgescontainingcellulose,suchastheTO1may
seemtodisintegrate,producea“sewer”or“rottenegg”odor,
orformablackprecipitateduetobacteria.Ifthishappens,
consultOMNIFILTERCustomerServiceforadviceorselecta
differentOMNIFILTERcartridge.
FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
FiltercartridgesfortheCBF1SeriesCwilllastabout1,000
gallonsortwelvemonthsandtheCBF3SeriesCwilllastabout
400gallonsor6monthsbeforetheyneedtobereplaced.
Filtercartridgelifevariesdependingonusage,and/orwater
conditions.Changesintaste,color,andowofthewaterbeing
lteredindicatethatthecartridgeshouldbereplaced.
NOTE:Readallinstructionsbeforereplacingltercartridge.
A) Turnoffcoldwatersupplyandopenthedrinkingwater
faucettoreleasepressurefromsystem.
B) Unscrewandremovebottomoflterhousing.Locateand
removelargeO-ring,wipecleanoflubricant,and
setaside.
C) Discardusedltercartridge.Usinganon-abrasivesponge
orcloth,scrubthebottomoflterhousing,O-ring
groove,andcapwithdishsoapandwarmwater.Rinse
thoroughly.Fillbottomofthehousing1/3fullwithwater.
Add1tablespoonofhouseholdbleachandscrubto
disinfect.
D) LubricateO-ringwithsiliconegrease.InsertO-ringin
grooveandpressintoplace.
NOTE:Thisstepisimportanttoensureaproperhousing
seal.MakecertaineachO-ringisseatedlevelinitsgroove
oraleakmayoccur.
E) Screwbottomofhousingwithbleachwaterontocap
withoutltercartridgeandhand-tighten.
DONOTOVER-TIGHTEN.
F) Turnonwatersupply.Letfaucetrunforabout
10seconds,thenturnofffaucetandletstandfor
20-30minutes.
G) Turnonfaucetandallowbleachwatertorunout(about
3-5minutes).
H) Turnoffwatersupplytosystemandopenfaucetto
releasepressure.Removebottomofhousingand
emptywater.
I) Insertltercartridgeintobottomoflterhousing:
Screwbottomofhousingontocapandhand-tighten.
DONOTOVER-TIGHTEN.Makecertaincapstandpipeslips
intocartridge.
J) Openwatersupplyandturnondrinkingwaterfaucetto
releasepressureinsystem.Letfaucetrunfor5minutes
toremovetrappedairandcarbonnes.Checksystemfor
leaksbeforeleavinginstallation.
NOTE:Itisrecommendedthatyourunthetapatleast
20secondspriortousingwaterfordrinkingorcooking
purposes.
NOTE:Initially,lteredwatermayappearcloudy.Ifyouset
aglassofwateronalevelsurface,youshouldbeableto
watchthecloudinessdisappearfromthebottomoftheglass
upwards.Thisharmlesscloudinessresultsfromthereleaseof
trappedairwithinthecartridgeandwilldisappearwithina
fewweeksafterinstallation.
NOTE:UseonlygenuineOMNIFILTERreplacementcartridges
forbestresults.FailuretouseOMNIFILTERreplacement
cartridgeswillvoidyourwarranty.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Leaks between cap and bottom of housing:
1. Turnoffwatersupplyanddepresspressure-reliefbutton.
Removethebottomofthehousing.
2. CleanandlubricateO-ringwithsiliconegrease.Also,clean
thegroovewheretheO-ringseatswithacleancloth.Replace
O-ringbackingrooveabovethreads.Screwbottomof
housingbackoncapsecurelybyhand.
DONOTOVER-TIGHTEN.
3. Turnonwatersupply.Ifleakspersist,orifthereareother
leaksonthesystem,turnoffwatersupply.CallOMNIFILTER
CustomerServiceat800.937.6664.
Leaks on inlet/outlet connections:
1. Turnoffwatersupplyandturnonfaucettorelease
pressureinpipes.Removetubingfromtting(see#5under
Installation)andmakesureendoftubingiscutsquarelyand
freeofburrs.Reinserttubingintoquick-connectttings,
makingsuretopushsecurelyuntiltubinghitsahardstop.
2. Turnonwatersupply.Ifleakspersist,orifthereareother
leaksonsystem,turnoffwatersupply.CallOMNIFILTER
