This means the monitor detects your blood’s movement through your brachial artery and converts the movements into a digital reading.

BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT To ensure a reliable reading follow these recommendations: 1. Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing for 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Rest for at least 15 minutes before taking the measurement. 2. Stress raises blood pressure. Avoid taking measurements during stressful times. 3. Measurements should be taken in a quiet place. 4. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your arm. 5. Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor.

DISPLAY SYMBOLS IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT SYMBOL ( ) When the monitor detects an irregular rhythm two or more times during the measurement, the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) will appear on the display with the measurement values. An irregular heartbeat rhythm is defined as a rhythm that is more than 25% slower or 25% faster from the average rhythm detected while the monitor is measuring the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure.
DISPLAY SYMBOLS HEARTBEAT SYMBOL/HYPERTENSION INDICATOR ( ) TAKING A MEASUREMENT The Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes on the display during the measurement. The Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes at every heartbeat. When the measurement is complete, the Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes on the display with your blood pressure and pulse rate if the reading is above 135 for the Systolic Blood Pressure value and/or 85 for the Diastolic Blood Pressure value.
DISPLAY SYMBOLS The American Heart Association recommends the following guideline for upper limit of normal for home blood pressure readings: AHA Home Guideline for Upper Limit of Normal BP Systolic Blood Pressure 135 mmHg Diastolic Blood Pressure 85 mmHg This is a general guideline because blood pressure depends on age and morbidity. The AHA recommends a lower home blood pressure goal for certain patients, including diabetic patients, pregnant women, and patients with renal failure1.
BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Press the ▼ indicator on the battery cover and slide the cover off in the direction of the arrow. Battery Cover 2. Install 4 “AAA” size batteries so the + (positive) and – (negative) polarities match the polarities of the battery compartment as indicated. 3. Replace the battery cover.
BATTERY INSTALLATION BATTERY REPLACEMENT Low Battery Indicator When the Low Battery Indicator appears on the display screen, turn the monitor off and remove all the batteries. Replace with four new 1.5V alkaline batteries at the same time. WARNING If battery fluid should get in your eyes, immediately rinse with plenty of clean water. Contact a physician immediately. NOTES: • Turn the unit off before replacing the batteries.
SETTING THE DATE AND TIME Set the monitor to the current date and time before taking a measurement for the first time. If the date and time are not set correctly, the measurement values stored in the memory and the average values may not be correct. The Blood Pressure Monitor automatically stores up to 84 individual measurement values with the dates and times. The monitor can also calculate an average reading based on the three most recent measurements taken within 10 minutes of the last reading.
SETTING THE DATE AND TIME 2. SETTING THE YEAR The year can be set between 2008 and 2030. When the display reaches 2030, it will return to 2008. SETTING THE DATE AND TIME RESETTING THE DATE AND TIME If the date and time is incorrect and needs to be changed, always reset before taking the next measurement. To adjust the date or time after the initial setting: Start with the monitor in the off position. 1. Press and hold the Date/Time Setting button ( ). The Medication Reminder Alarm Symbol ( ) No.1 and the current setting (on or oFF) will appear on the display. Press the Date/Time Setting button repeatedly until the year flashes on the display. 2.
SETTING THE MEDICATION REMINDER ALARM WARNING Do not rely solely on the Medication Reminder function to take medicines throughout the day. The date and time must be set to the current date and time before the Medication Reminder Alarm is set. The Medication Reminder Alarm is set to “off” at the time of purchase. The Medication Reminder Alarm can be set to sound twice a day to alert the user to take a medication. NOTES: • To change the date and time refer to “Resetting the Date and Time” on page 19.

APPLYING THE ARM CUFF CAUTION Read all of the information in the instruction manual and any other literature in the box before operating the unit. APPLYING THE ARM CUFF 2. Remove clothing from your upper arm and position the Cuff Guide on your upper arm. 3. Tighten the Cuff Guide around your arm. 4. The cut-out arrow on the Cuff Guide indicates the correct cuff size for your arm circumference. Orange use the Standard Adult Cuff, Purple use the Large Adult Cuff. Orange Use the Standard Adult Cuff Use the Large Adult Cuff Purple APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE LEFT ARM 1. Make sure the air plug is securely inserted into the Air Jack.
APPLYING THE ARM CUFF 2. Remove tight-fitting clothing from your upper left arm. 3. Apply the cuff to your left upper arm so the blue arrow is centered on the inside of your arm and aligned with your middle finger. The air tube runs down the inside of your arm. The bottom of the cuff should be approximately 1/2" above your elbow. 1/2 inch (1 - 2 cm) Arrow 4. Wrap the cuff firmly in place around your arm using the closure strip.
APPLYING THE ARM CUFF APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE RIGHT ARM When taking a measurement using the right arm, use the instruction below in place of Step 3 on page 26. Apply the cuff to your right upper arm so the arrow and the air tube runs along the inside of your elbow. The bottom of the cuff should be approximately 1/2'' above your elbow. NOTES: • Be careful not to rest your arm on the air tube. This will restrict the flow of air to the cuff. • The Standard Adult Cuff has an “orange arrow”.
TAKING A MEASUREMENT 1. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Place your arm with the cuff on a table so the cuff is level with your heart. 2. Press the START/STOP button. All symbols appear on the display. The cuff starts to inflate automatically. As the cuff inflates, the monitor automatically determines your ideal inflation level. This monitor detects your blood pressure and pulse rate during inflation. The Heartbeat Symbol ( ) flashes at every heartbeat.
TAKING A MEASUREMENT 3. When the measurement is complete, the arm cuff completely deflates. Your blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed. 4. Press the START/STOP button to turn the monitor off. NOTE: The monitor will automatically turn off after two minutes.
TAKING A MEASUREMENT The monitor stores measurement values for one user in the memory. The guest mode can be used to take a single measurement for another user. USING THE GUEST MODE No measurement values are stored in the memory when the guest mode is selected. 1. Press and hold the START/STOP button for 3 seconds. The Guest Symbol ( ) appears on the display. 2. Release the START/STOP button. The cuff starts to inflate automatically. NOTE: To stop the inflation, press the START/STOP button.
USING THE MEMORY FUNCTION Every time you complete a measurement the monitor stores the blood pressure and pulse rate in the memory. The monitor automatically stores up to 84 sets of measurement values (blood pressure and pulse rate). When 84 sets of measurement values are stored, the oldest record is deleted to save the most recent values. Measurements taken using the guest mode are not stored in the memory.
USING THE MEMORY FUNCTION TO DISPLAY THE MEASUREMENT VALUES 1. Press the Memory button ( ). The Average Symbol ( reading is shown. ) appears on the display when the average 2. Press the Memory button ( ) to display the most recent set of measurement values on the screen. The values are displayed from the most recent to the oldest. NOTE: The date and time are alternately displayed with the measurement values. Press the Memory button ( ) to display the next set of values.
USING THE MEMORY FUNCTION TO DELETE ALL VALUES STORED IN THE MEMORY You cannot partially delete values stored in the memory. 1. Press the Memory button ( ) to turn the monitor on. 2. Press the Memory button ( ) again. While holding the Memory button ( ), press the Start/Stop button down for approximately 5 seconds until the digital display appears as it does in the illustration to the right. 3. Press the START/STOP button to turn the monitor off.
USING THE SOFTWARE OMRON HEALTH MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE Omron Health Management Software allows you to view, track and print data about blood pressure measured by Omron blood pressure monitors and pedometers with PC download. NOTE: This software is exclusive to Omron blood pressure monitors and pedometers with PC download. Visit www.software.omronhealthcare.com to register your customer information for online support. CAUTION This is a CD-ROM disc.
USING THE SOFTWARE Use only the authorized Omron USB cable, Model HHX-CABLE-USB2, included with this unit. CAUTION Use only Omron authorized parts and accessories. Parts and accessories not approved for use with the device may damage the unit. 1. Open the USB Port cover. NOTE: Do not allow objects to come into contact with the USB Port. 2. Plug the normal USB Connector (Large Connector) into the personal computer. Normal USB Connector Mini USB Connector 3.
USING THE SOFTWARE 4. Click [Download Data] icon to import the data. 5. The Confirm dialog appears. Make sure your cable is connected then click [Yes]. 6. Select the blood pressure monitor being used and click [OK]. 7. Start importing data. Click [Cancel] if you want to cancel.
USING THE SOFTWARE 8. The dialog appears when complete. Click [OK] and view your data on the graph. NOTES: • You cannot transfer the data while taking a blood pressure reading. • Do not turn the PC off or unplug the USB cable while the data is being transferred. Refer to the Omron Health Management Software Users’ Manuals.
Care and Maintenance CARE AND MAINTENANCE To keep your digital blood pressure monitor in the best condition and to protect the unit from damage, follow the directions listed below: Store the monitor in the Stylish Zipper Case when not in use. Do not forcefully bend the arm cuff or air tube. Do not fold tightly. Clean the monitor with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any abrasive or volatile cleaners. Do not attempt to clean the cuff. CAUTION Do not submerge the device or any of the components in water.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Use the unit in a manner that is consistent with the instructions provided in this manual. CAUTION Changes or modification not approved by Omron Healthcare will void the user warranty. Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the unit or components. ERROR INDICATORS AND TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS ERROR INDICATORS SYMBOL CAUSE CORRECTION Remove the arm cuff. Refer to “Taking a Measurement”. Cuff over-inflated Monitor could not detect pulse wave. ERROR INDICATORS AND TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS PROBLEM CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS No power. Replace all four batteries with new ones. No display appears on the unit. Check the battery installation for proper placement of the battery polarities. Measurement values appear too high or too low. Blood pressure varies constantly. Many factors including stress, time of day, and how you wrap the cuff, may affect your blood pressure.

COLOCACIÓN DE LAS PILAS 1. Presione el indicador ▼ que aparece en la cubierta del compartimiento de las pilas y deslice la cubierta en la dirección que indica la flecha. Tapa del compartimiento de las pilas 2. Coloque 4 pilas “AAA” de modo que las polaridades + (positiva) y – (negativa) concuerden con las polaridades que se indican en el compartimiento de las pilas. 3. Vuelva a colocar la tapa del compartimiento.
COLOCACIÓN DE LAS PILAS CAMBIO DE LA BATERÍA Indicador de batería baja Cuando el Indicador de Batería Baja aparezca en la pantalla, apague el monitor y retire todas las pilas. Coloque las cuatro pilas nuevas 1.5V al mismo tiempo. ADVERTENCIA En caso de que el fluido de las pilas entre en contacto con los ojos, enjuague de inmediato con abundante agua limpia. Consulte inmediatamente a un médico. NOTAS: • Apague la unidad antes de cambiar las pilas.

COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE EN EL BRAZO PRECAUCIÓN Lea toda la información del manual de instrucciones y cualquier otro material impreso incluido en la caja antes de comenzar a usar la unidad. COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE PARA EL BRAZO 2. Retire la ropa de la parte superior de su brazo y coloque allí la Guía del brazalete. 3. Ajuste la Guía del brazalete alrededor de su brazo. 4. La flecha recortada de la Guía del brazalete indica el tamaño correcto del brazalete para la circunferencia de su brazo. La naranja utiliza el brazalete estándar para adultos, la púrpura utiliza el brazalete grande para adultos.
COLOCACIÓN DEL BRAZALETE PARA EL BRAZO 2. Retire la ropa ajustada de la parte superior del brazo izquierdo. 3. Coloque el brazalete en la parte superior del brazo izquierdo de modo que la flecha azul quede centrada en la parte interna del brazo y alineada con el dedo medio. CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN 1. Siéntese en una silla con los pies apoyados en el piso. Coloque el brazo en una mesa de modo que el brazalete quede en el mismo nivel que su corazón. 2. Presione el botón START/STOP (Inicio/Detener). Todos los símbolos aparecen en la pantalla. El brazalete comienza a inflarse automáticamente. A medida que el brazalete empieza a inflarse, el monitor determinará automáticamente el nivel óptimo de inflado. Este monitor detecta su presión arterial y pulso durante el inflado.

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN El monitor almacena los valores de la medición para un usuario en la memoria. Puede utilizarse el modo Invitado para tomar una medición única para otro usuario. Una vez almacenados 84 valores de medición en la memoria, el registro más antiguo se borrará para guardar los valores de medición más recientes. Las mediciones que se toman con el modo Invitado [Guest] no se guardan en la memoria.

No use limpiadores abrasivos ni volátiles.
